Week/ fruit: 29 weeks, Dad's guide says a loaf of bread. I like those descriptions better than produce which can vary so much.
Rants/raves/symptoms: I'm feeling the nesting crunch! While it's making me productive, it's also making me really tired because I keep over estimating how much I can get done before my back hurts. My chiropractor appointments are going really well though and I've been sleeping better without hip pain which is fantastic. LO is still preferring breech though, but has flipped head down for brief periods after each adjustment. Also, it's super cute to see DS and LO interact with each other through the belly.
Upcoming appointments: Next Thursday with my OB.
Questions for the group: STM+ how are you preparing for the inevitable after-birth hospital stay in terms of who is staying with you/who is staying with your child(ren)? Last time, DH stayed with me overnight each night because I had a csection and needed his help. Plus, to be honest, I was uncomfortable and a little scared. My mom is on DS duty during labor, and is willing to keep him overnights, but I'm just not sure if that's best for him. I'd like to keep things as normal as possible for him which means sleeping in his own bed and such. I'm trying to get DH to take over bedtime sometimes too so that he'll hopefully sleep alright without me for a few days. I know it's only for a few days, but this is making me nervous. I've only spent one night away from DS and it was because I was hospitalized from a really rough norovirus. He barely slept that night-- though I'm sure that also had a lot to do with the fact that he was used to nursing at night and had to be given pumped milk instead in addition to me not being there. I also prefer to not be alone in the hospital tbh. I'm considering asking my mom to stay with me, and DH to stay home with DS. I'm probably overthinking this.
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? It's so hard to pick just one! I'll say that one of the things I'm looking forward to is the first beach vacation we take-- DS had recently turned one when we took him and his first night on the beach was so adorable. We'll likely wait to do a beach trip again until DS2 is one and DS will be three. When we got to the sand, DS was smiling ear to ear and threw himself in the sand as if he had just found land after being at sea forever, and, giggling, threw it in the air in fistfuls. He also loved running in and out of the shallow waves with us-- though he LOVES water, and had already had round 1 of swim lessons at that point because he showed such an early interest in water. I'll be curious to see if DS2 loves water to the same extent.
rants: so many Braxton hicks! Lots of uncomfortable pressure down low, can't sleep for sht, and starting to feel a little stressed about LO's arrival.
Raves: oh, HI sex drive! Welcome back! Couldn't be more happy to feel the feels again
Upcoming appointments: I think I'm going to get my Glucose test done tomorrow night and early. Everyone seems to schedule theirs (?)but all the labs around me just have you show up.
Questions for the group: none
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older?
I'm excited to see DD and LO interact. I think she'll be a sweet older sister. I'm also excited for all of he adventures: camping, concerts, etc. we like to do these things as a family, and I'm pumped about it!
@kbrands7 I'm nervous about the hospital stay as well. My mom will most likely care for DD when I'm in he hospital, but like you I worry about routine, DD's sleep and the after effects of being off of her routine. My Mom honestly doesn't respect the bedtime routine that we have going. She keeps her up til 9pm a lot of the time and DD just wakes up crabby. But I think I'll have to suck it up bc I really need/want my husband to be with me while I'm recovering in the hospital. Wish I had suggestions for you! Instead I'll just commiserate with you
@jenly17 I'm sorry that you're feeling stressed too! We can definitely commiserate. I agree, the disregard for routines is one of the things that makes me nervous about it. I love her dearly, and she keeps him safe, but sleep routines just aren't a grandparent's strong suit; it's a problem for naptime when she watches him while I'm at work too, though it's been improving lately. It worries me that I'm both the sleep enforcer, and the sleep comforter. I really don't want him to not sleep well for days in a row.
Rants/raves/symptoms: I am now starting to get uncomfortable at night. I toss and turn. Partly because I feel my hips are relaxing more, so when I sleep on my side, it is causing hip pain. I also think it is because I am not being active enough and my muscles ache because I am not working them. It has been too cold here to go on walks. And I am not a gym/exercise person.
Upcoming appointments: I just had an appt last week and had my glucose. Next appt is in 3 weeks. After that, we start the every 2 week appts!
Questions for the group: none. But to answer @kbrands7 , I honestly don't know what the plan is. I keep thinking about it, but haven't come up with an answer. Last time, my parents took care of my 13 month old while DH and I stayed at the hospital for our 48 hours. This time, I am debating making my DH stay at the hospital the whole time. I guess I need to ask him what he wants to do. I am also waivering on whether to bring my little ones to see me in the hospital. My dad died two years ago and before he died, he was in the hospital for a long time and we made frequent visits. I am worried they will see me in a hospital bed and think that I am going to die. I may just have them wait to meet their new brother when we get home from the hospital.
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? A little bit of everything! My two little ones are at such a fun age now, that I am eager for the new LO to get there, too! But I also don't want to rush it because I am excited to have a newborn to cuddle.
Rants/raves/symptoms: feeling more emotional (I ugly cried on the drive home when I found out the dog training center we go to is closing). I have been feeling a lot more movement and I love it!
Upcoming appointments: not until March
Questions for the group: how do you know which way your baby is positioned? I keep hearing people talk about the position their baby is in and I want to know too! I'm sure an anterior placenta isn't helping me out much though
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? I'm excited for outdoor activities! Camping/hiking/fishing/hunting and just being outside in general. I'm also very excited as a FTM to see how DH will interact with LO. He is going to be such a great dad
@EErin86 right around 20 weeks each pregnancy, my OB and ultrasound tech during the anatomy scan gave me pointers on recognizing LO's movements. It's really not exact and there are some times that I have only a general idea of how he's sitting. Sorry that this is long, but I hope it helps!
Tips they gave me which have been really helpful in figuring out position: - Kicks (felt from knees or feet) tend to be harder/more sudden than hits/swipes from hands which are usually more gentle. - Kicks down very low (like bladder kicks) means some form of breech. - Kicks up higher means some form of head down. You also tend to feel more low heaviness when baby is fully engaged in head down; near the end, it will sometimes feel like baby is so low he'she could just fall out. - Heads and butts will feel round and hard through the belly if they are positioned against the outside of the bump-- an anterior placenta may interfere with you being able to feel that well though. - If the back is against the outside, that will feel very hard too and is more likely to temporarily change the shape of the bump. If you have a doppler or have just had an appointment, where the heartbeat is located will show you where the back is. - Transverse tends to be universally uncomfortable ans usually make the bump appear very large and stretched. Often, with transverse you feel like you're being pushed at both from the right and left side (usually feet and head putting pressure there). - Baby changing position will sometimes feel like BH at first because of the tension it may put on the uterus. The difference is that the whole uterus doesn't get hard, it just feels hard where the baby is pressing at the moment.
Overall, this LO has been easy to identify because his favorite position is being stuck in my right hip. I can usually feel his head by my right rib, his back along my right side, and he kicks down (hard), or out to the left and I feel gentle swipes above my belly button. After he changes position, I usually have to wait for kicks to figure out where he is-- unless he lands transverse because it puts pressure on my cs scar and makes it feel like a pulled muscle, so I feel that immediately.
Rants/raves/symptoms: Because baby is so low, I'm super uncomfortable right below my belly. (It's so low that it's sitting right where my pubic hair starts. Ugh) I'm also having quite a bit of hip pain when trying to sleep, and the exhaustion is also settling back in. Glad we got the nursery set up already, and lots of nesting type stuff done as well, cause I'm too tired now to do anything.
Upcoming appointments: I have my OB appointment this afternoon, and a chiropractor appt tomorrow.
Questions for the group: @EErin86I also am curious how people tell what position the baby is in. Maybe I can't tell because I have an anterior placenta as well? I'm just glad I am finally feeling a lot of movement cause it took a long time for that to happen.
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? So many things! Taking him to the beach, taking him to music festivals with us when he's a older, showing him all my favorite childhood movies, going to the park, reading books to him
Raves: I'm feeling pretty great still. I think baby FINALLY moved head down. I'm feeling more kicks higher up after a few days of what felt like baby kicking my cervix. Not fun. Yes! Stay head down, baby.
Rant: I'm having such a hard time choosing a name. I think I'll *try* to get it narrowed down to two.
Upcoming appointments: Next Wed. for glucose test. Then appointments every 2 weeks.
Questions for the group:
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? I like this question! I'm excited for the outdoor activities, too. I plan on putting a lot of miles on the stroller this summer. My dog, me, and hopefully baby will all love this. I can't wait all sorts of outside fun: pool, lake, sandboxes, parks, etc.
Rants: I'm pretty sure pregnancy is causing my pelvis to split in half. I can hardly walk Raves: The doctor said he is head down now so hopefully he stays that way! Symptoms: I still get nauseous some mornings, but usually it's because I ate too late at night and when i wake up the food is still being digested
Upcoming appointments: My appointment was yesterday and I told the doctor about how much my groin/pelvis hurts and he recommended physical therapy, so I start that in a couple weeks. I had my flu shot and scheduled my next appointment, which will be at 28 weeks. At that appointment I will be doing my glucose test, getting my TDAP, and getting an ultrasound to measure growth.

@kbrands7 - DH will be coming to the hospital with me but not staying the night so he can keep the household and bar on lock (also so he can get some decent sleep). I don't really need him to do much for me until I get home, which will hopefully be the next day (fingers crossed).
Also, waaaaay back when my little bro was born, my parents dropped me off with my grandmother and grandfather. There was no routine, I got to stay up late and draw and eat ice cream! I still have very fond memories of those few days. It made my little bro arriving less alien and made it seem more like something fun was happening (slumber party whaaaat?). I wouldn't worry about lack of routine for a couple of days. You're bringing another life into the mix, it's bound to shake things up a bit!
The eff? I've tried to put up a full post with all of the questions answered, but the bump app keeps putting up a half-post every time. Since the original post won't edit the way I want it to, here's the last half of it (assuming that it'll post all of that as well):
Upcoming appointments: 3/1
Questions for the group: I've heard alllll about the postpartum support belts/corsets, but can anyone tell me about the maternity ones, and how well they did/didn't work for you? LO has definitely moved lower and my belly is getting so heavy and it's straining my back and I'd really like to buy a support belt, but I'm not sure it'll be worth it in the long run.
GTKY: What activity are you the most excited about doing when LO gets older? Reading. I'm a total book nerd, and I can't wait to watch her reading skills develop and hopefully someday share my love of the written word with her.
