Hi guys- if there is somewhere better to put this tell me. I couldn't find anything but that doesn't mean much. I just need to share this with someone other than my husband.
So we just had our 20 week anatomy scan. Little dude was lounging and our ultrasound took forever! It was fun to see him though. It seemed pretty standard through most of it. But they kept going back to his heart for more images. They took about a zillion pictures and I started to get a little anxious...Then we were shuffled to our exam room where the results took over an hour for the high risk(?!?!) doctor across town to read and compile in a report. We ended up being told that he has a tendon stretched across a ventricle in his heart and a neonatal cardiologist will call us on Thursday to determine if we should have an echo done or any other measures. My sister is a cardiac nurse and is both reassuring me and making me worry more. I'm trying to keep things in perspective and not stress but as a first time mom I feel about ready to burst into tears. Has anyone experienced a similar concern at their appointment?
UPDATE: Good news everyone! Baby'S heart concern is just a typical anatomic variant and nothing at all to be concerned about. It is a false tendon (just a part of his heart) and perfectly normal. What a relief! Thanks for all the warm wishes. Ladies who shared their own concerns, please update us as well!
Re: *UPDATED* 20 week A/S results left me feeling unsure...
@theshannondee and @ashleyradke I'm praying for both of you and your babies!

Also, this is the perfect thing to start your own thread on. It's a unique situation and I think everybody here would agree that an anatomy scan that doesn't go as planned warrants it's own place.
All I can tell you is that I was very anxious about it, but all was fine. I went for a lot of ultrasounds last pregnancy because her NT scan was slightly abnormal and she was always measuring on the small side. But she was born perfectly healthy despite all of it. This is just to say that many times they are being cautious. And agree with others that if there is a current issue it's very likely to resolve itself.
Best of luck and keep us updated. Fingers crossed everything's just fine. Try your best to relax, I know it's hard.
As for you, as PPs have said a lot of issues resolve on their own. One of the blessings, but curses, of modern medicine is that we are able to see EVERYTHING about our babies. While it can be unsettling, just keep in mind that at the end of the day all of this is science. Your doctor and team now have more information that they can use to make sure everything goes okay. The more information the better, even if it makes us antsy haha. T&P your way!!
