It's been a couple weeks. Let's see what we've accomplished!

  • @AmadorRose I love your mobile! If I was having a girl I would have done the feathers and butterflies route. My grandmother and I are both obsessed with butterflies though
  • The whole feathers and arrows theme (the off-white sheet has little gold arrows but you can't really tell) was a little too much for me at first but I couldn't get over the peacock fabric, then found the little arrows fabric and it just clicked. It's hokey but it's kind of a cute nod to my Native American ancestry, especially since my Gram passed away in December and she was kind of the link to that heritage. Plus, it's not pink ;)
  • Gorgeous work ladies!
I taught myself how to crochet and made some baby moccasins :)  trying to finish up a scarf at the moment so I can start another and make a teddy bear. My phone is bring a pos and not letting me upload a photo :(
  • Nothing... I have accomplished nothing... Fail.

Well I guess that's kind of a lie... I've made **very little** progress on the stroller blanket I am crocheting. Annndddd that's about it. I need to get my butt in gear!

I feel like this should be a fffc :P I'm off to Home Depot to get something to hang up that "stick picture" as my nephew so eloquently put it :P
  • AmadorRose I love the mobile. I am trying to decide if I want to put in the effort to make one or just buy one off etsy or something. I love the peacock fabric too! So pretty.

You didn't ask me, but I already stated I will buy the next one... Seemed like such an easy project! Six hours later >.>

Mine took maybe an hour - the hardest part was waiting for the paint to dry before I could hang them. I need crafts that I can make noticeable progress on or I get frustrated and give up.
  • @Knottie9983816 I LOVE the stick picture! And the mobile.  I *might* try to make one....but cut out the paper with my cricut to save time.

@AmadorRose I NEED that peacock fabric in my life! I love peacocks (used to have real ones) and love all things them.

@allaire314, I'm in the same boat as you...NADA! Don't even have the crib put together yet.  Or the space in our room cleared out to put the crib.  Mom-Winning!!

  • oh man, you guys are awesome!

cmjenkies I LOVE that! I've been trying to figure out how to organize baby girl's headbands and bows.

    Knottie9983816 Freaking adorable!

  • @yodiggity it's such a simple fix - just a painted old frame of some type, a roll of ribbon, and the hooks. I drilled holes, screwed in the hooks, hot glued the ribbon in the back, and then added the little embellishments that I had left over from my yarn wall letter project.. and voila! The two projects also kind of coordinate now too, so that's handy.
  • And knitpicks is taking more of my money so I can make a pouf. I both love and hate whoever it was that first told me about that site.

  • Does anyone dye fabric? I got some muslin for swaddle blankets and I want to dye them (muslin only comes in white and off-white where I've looked) but I've never dyed fabric. Any tips for making it work? How do I know when it's the hue I want?

@AmadorRose here's a good tutorial for an ombre muslin swaddle. They get into the intensity of hues: https://sayyes.com/2013/08/diy-ombre-swaddle-blanket.html

I wanted to make this but decided against it  since I can't be fussed looking for dye.

  • @redselig I just ordered my dye and fabric from Joann's but I believe you're overseas, so I'm not sure what the process would be for you.
  • @AmadorRose, in regards to dyeing fabric - @AEG84  just posted pics on FB of the fabric she dyed... maybe she has some tips for you!

Unfortunately not available for me. I've only ever used Rit and Tintex so if I were to buy local and persevere with instructions in a language other than English - I'd rather not. :# I'm soo lazy.

Oh that's way too risky! I'm going with Rit so hopefully I don't mess it up too much!
  • As far as brands, the ones I've seen recommended are Dharma, Tulip, Dylon and Jacquard. @AmadorRose and I exchanged some info on fb, but wanted to share here for the broader group. From what I've read, Rit is not recommended for use on baby items. I've only used Tulip so far, which was super easy (and available on Amazon Prime, win!), but might try Dharma for the next round as they have a lot more color options.

I made these jellyfish yesterday to hang in our ocean-themed nursery. Pier 1 has these really great remote-controlled LED lights that I'm going to mount inside so we can use them as lights since the nursery doesn't have any overhead lighting.
    Omg that is so cute!
