Too soon for pregnancy pillow?

After having chronic back problems for a few years, I started sleeping on my side with a regular body pillow and have been doing that for about a year.  I'm curious about these special pregnancy pillows like the Snoogle.  Is it weird to use one this early in my pregnancy?  Obviously I don't have a belly yet but I think one of these pillows might give me more back/hip support than my usual body pillow, so I'm intrigued.  Does anyone here use one when NOT pregnant, or really early in pregnancy?

Re: Too soon for pregnancy pillow?

  • Heck no! I just bought one yesterday and I slept so well last night :)

  • Snoogle is EVERYTHING. I had awful back pain basically from the day I got my BFP last pregnancy, and the Snoogle was a lifesaver. Buy it!
  • DH bought me a snoogle for Valentine's Day. I've used it once to sleep elevated on my side one night when I had heartburn. I don't know that I'll use it outside of that because I don't like sleeping with my head on the snoogle. The pillowcase is too scratchy and my neck ends up at a weird angle. I'm kind of ambivalent now. But that might change once I develop a belly. It also takes up a ton of room.

Yeah I love my snoogle. I use it all the time, pregnant or not.

Edited to clarify: I meant "Yeah" in agreement for the snoogle, not that it's too soon.

  • I've been talking about getting one since the day I got my BFP. I ordered one last week. I couldn't wait, I'm too uncomfortable. Supposedly the one I bought also helps with carpal tunnel, so I figured I could still use it even when not pregnant for that. Should be here any day now!

  • Do whatever if comfortable for you!  I have the Leachco Back 'N Belly Contoured pillow from my last pregnancy and love it.  I haven't taken it out of storage yet only because it takes up two thirds of our king sized bed.  I say get a pregnancy pillow and be comfy!!!

  • Perfect!  Ordered it!  We have a California King so hopefully it will fit ok.  Worst case scenario, I'll kick my dog out of bed :)
  • I've been wondering this too!!! I found one 50% off on clearance a few weeks ago so I bought it but it's still on the box. I've been sleeping horribly though so I've been considering taking it out to see if it helps.

  • I have one from my last 2 and love it.
  • My hubby uses mine from my last pregnancy.
  • My last pregnancy I used the boppy full body reposition able pillow, and wasn't super impressed with it. Now, with all of my lovely back issues going into this, I'd like a better pillow. I've been looking at 2 different leachco pillows on Amazon. One is the typical full body pillow, and the other surrounds you on both sides. They both get great reviews but I'm thinking the one that surrounds all over might have better back support. Anyone have any insight?

  • I am not a side sleeper at all; it is the most uncomfortable position for me to sleep in.  I bought the snoogle and have been using it as a way to get myself used to sleeping on my side and I must say it definitely helps.  It doesn't solve all of my problems, shoulders still ache when I side sleep, but I can get comfortable enough to fall asleep and stay asleep.
  • I showed DH the Snoogle last night and he just said, "Where will I sleep now?" I told him there will be plenty of room for everyone

  • I never used one last time between having a queen bed and my hands going numb causing me to toss and turn, it would have been useless. I slept just fine (as much as you can third tri) without it. Plus snuggling something all night just sound alike hot flashes waiting to happen for me. I'm a special snowflake I'm sure.

  • I think I want to try one of these pillows everyone loves. My bloat is out of this world so I'm sure I will go straight from bloat to bump with no in between "skinny" again stage. Anything that makes life more comfortable!
  • I used one when my hip and knee got messed up in a car accident a few years ago. Unfortunately, it perished in an unfortunate bong water accident because my college roommate lacked coordination (probably a bongo related condition).

I want a new one ridiculously badly. Anyway, getting one now is really nbg. If it isn't comfortable yet, it can just get stored until you need it.

I've been using the big stuffed dog my husband got me for V day last year. Not super supportive, but his nose fits right between my gigantic, tender boobs so they don't touch each other. Lol

  • I'm definitely a natural side sleeper, but they make these pillows look so darn comfy, I'm considering getting one even though I'm not having any pains. LOL
