I used them with my first and they were great. Especially when I was working FT. It is a slight added expense because you have to purchase liners, so with dd and this baby I used the playtex ventair bottles (I now work PT and don't make as much so I do what I can to save money).
As a FTM, I'm looking into pretty much everything that we can do to save money and also save time on clean up. Lol. My sister used the drop ins with both kids, except when using formula as a supplemental. I remember from the many times I watched the kids, they were beyond stupid easy to use and clean up was a breeze. My mom, on the other hand, could neve get them to sit properly in the bottle so milk/formula would leak everywhere.
I loved the drops in when my son was a little older. I never got consistent measurements with the ounces and unless I measured in a measuring cup and poured it in, it would never be the same. We switched to drop ins when I started FF a little after 6 months and while they were much easier for cleaning, it's just a pain.
I was gifted the playtex drop ins from my SIL (who has 2 kids). I let them sit on a shelf for the first month and a half and used Dr. Browns instead. The Dr. Browns started leaking really bad out the nipple. Like the hole got stretched out and DD would choke while eating because it was coming out too fast. So I opened up the playtex ones and never went back. Loved the playtex drop ins. So much easier to clean and never had any issues with leaking.
I loved them!! I nannied for a premie BF baby, and they used the dropins. The mom would pump at work, and I would take the milk and dump it into the playtex dropins, put the solid lid on top so no air got in and would freeze the drop in. Then once they froze I would put them in a ziplock bag, take out the air and freeze them. It was nice that each day I could take out older frozen milk (mom had a stash) and put it straight into the bottle and it would be thawed by the time she needed to eat. The only thing I will tell you- is they have expanding 8-10 ounce bags and they balloon up at the bottom and won't fit inside the bottles. So we had to switch to Target brand drop ins once she needed more than 4 ounces lol. Learned the hard way after getting a few bags frozen into our only 8 ounce bottles
We exclusively used the playtex drop ins, with our 1st. I couldn't breast feed so we used kirklands powdered formula, we kept bottles with the powder in it and a bottle of water next to the bed, made night time feedings a breeze, we will def be doing it again. Also we didnt have any issues with gas or colic or spit up. Hopefully we have the same experience with our second
