December 2015 Moms

For those who had girls..

How do you manage to keep these friggin headbands on? DD doesn't have much hair maybe that's the issue. She wiggles her head a lot so they constantly fall down to her eyes. I tried using a tighter one but it left an indentation on her head and looked uncomfortable. Any tips?

  • I put a headband on DD almost everyday even if it's just for a little bit.. I want her to be use to having hair accessories in her hair. I don't use the thin headbands because they are too tight and leave an indentation. I'm not sure how they stay on.. Maybe because she has a good amount of hair
  • I think my mom may be right on this one. Shape of the head makes a huge difference. I could never wear headbands of any sort even as I got older. For DD they just work. Still, they kink her hair funny so I don't put them on her much except for pictures. Like @taysun said, if we go out she has a hat on anyway with the cold weather right now.

The ones we have liked when we use them are the carter's just one you brand from Target. The narrow strap seems to stay in place fairly well besides twisting and I like the low profile of the little bows.
  • Baby Bling headbands!!!  They are super soft and have a wide band so they stay in realy well. I love them. They have a variety of colors on Amazon or most baby boutiques have them in some colors.
  • DD only wears them for pictures. Headbands irk me so I can only imagine how it feels for her. We both have large heads though so @Mizuiro007 might be on to something! She also has tons of hair.
  • It's 90 degrees in L.A. today so no more hats for DD :) Someone called her a boy which is why I want to put more headbands on her. Head shape would make total sense because I could never keep my goggles on when snowboarding lol!

What about sun hats? We put bucket hats on DS last summer and they looked so cute plus the sun protection they provide. I plan to do the same with DD and have already seen some cute girly ones on Carter's and, I think, on Old Navy's websites.

ETA I really think some people aren't observant at all. I could understand it when I dress my kids in neutral clothing but I've had DS dressed very boyish and been told what a cute girl he is. Also had DD drowning in pinks and floral and been asked if she's a boy or girl.

Olive has a full head of hair and doesn't like it being mussed with too much. She's never worn a headband. She started life wearing little hats but we slacked on that and now she won't hear of any hats other than her little mohair bonnet (bonnets that go on and tie under the chin are ok, go figure..)

Come to think of it, she'll also wear the little fox hat my sister knitted for her.

    That's about it.
  • DD has never worn a headband because I don't like the fact that they can cause the indentation...meaning they're too tight! SHe's always worn hats though, but since it's 85 degrees here in Phoenix already, she's not wearing anything on her head anymore.

@preggoandglowing im just waiting for someone call her a boy! My dad got her a green carrier (because my favorite color is green, but it's not MY carrier. I don't know why he didn't get pink) so without a bow or if she's not dressed really girly, which we don't really care about foo foo pinky things, then it's kind of hard to tell lol
  • I tried the headbands but some caused indents and that can't be comfortable! I bought an all clothe one that is super soft that she'll wear, but it won't stay on in the car seat. I just ordered hair clips from Carters with flowers and bows since she has a lot of hair that I hope works better.

  • DD got my big round head so no headbands for us. I put one on for some pics and she got a dent within minutes! People ask all the time if she's a boy or girl but It doesn't bother me too much. At 5 weeks she still just kind of looks like Baby. My mom used to get that all the time about me and it made her NUTS. She would Velcro bows into the 3 hairs I had on my head (I was bald until like 2yo- ha)  :D
  • My Lo has a ton load of hair and it spikes up so I dont put anything on it. I dont see the point >.< babies are pretty asis lol

Haha! Cute! Side Note:  But.. How much do you love that swing? The bunny swing saved my life.
  • I am pretty sure my husband jinxed us because as soon as I put something on DD head she has a melt down! All through my pregnancy he kept telling everyone "no bows!" Ugh! Haha

This was the first bow that didn't fall off her head. Instead it kept twisting around either putting the flower by her ear or making her a flower unicorn.

It has totally saved my life too! DD happily swings in there and watches everything going on. She also naps in there. Oddly enough, my son hated it last time around.
