Placenta// Gender predictions??

Hello fellow October Mommies!

I recently found this link on Pinterest:
https://pregnancy.about.com/od/genderpredictions1/ss/Ramzis-Method-To-Determine-Fetal-Gender.htm

It claims that if you ask "Where is my placenta?" you can find out the sex of your baby. Apparently if your placenta is on the left you're having a girl, and if it's on the right you're having a boy.

Does anyone believe this?

  • I believe it about as much as I believe in the blood type diet! Which is to say, no.

  • I know you're trying to have a little fun, but posts like this don't really go over very well on The Bump.

  • @krzyriver I don't understand? What is wrong with this post? I saw something on Pinterest, and I wanted some additional opinions.
  • Thanks for posting this! I have heard something similar about the placenta; how can you tell by ultrasound if it's on the right or left? I guess I should have been paying more attention, haha. By the way, my OBGYN admitted to me on Friday that out of all the wives tales, theories, etc, he puts SOME credence into the heart rate theory (girls are faster, boys are slow)...I thought that was cool, but I can't get him to acknowledge any other wives tales. I'll have to ask him about the placenta thing next time ;)
  • @kamroberts I think the snark speaks for itself. Lol. But honestly, this is a method that has mostly been disproven. The only way to know the sex (not gender) is to look between the legs or a DNA test. So threads like this are typically met with lots of snark. No harm done if you wish to have fun on your own, just letting you know the kind of response you're likely to get based on the experience that I've had.

  • I don't put too much into it, just like the Chinese gender perdition charts but they both were right with both my girls.
  • Nope. How, exactly, would these even be related?

  • I tried it and figured out that I was having a boy or girl.
  • 50% of the time, it works every time ;)

  • I hear if you pee in a cup of baking soda it will tell you. Or you could just wait to find out the real answer and not waste time on crap "theories".
