The weather, hardly any food in the house and now we can't go out to the store. Our plow hasn't come and we are completely blocked in. Plus side, DH got to work from home so I will get to nap today.
I'm a TW for not having a good job and being able to build up a good amount of savings before being on maternity leave. I've stretched $800 for the last 5.5 weeks, but I'm down to less than $100 at this point. Luckily I live with my parents so don't have to pay rent, etc but I'm starting to worry. I did some temp work at a florist for the week of Valentine's Day, but won't get that check for another week. I also didn't file my taxes until last week, and while I expect about $800 back, I really need to get a "real" job. I'm just so sad about having to leave my baby 5+ days a week to do so. Ugh. I'm such a TW and really regret spending 4 years at a university and not coming out with a degree. I don't even want to think about the $30k I owe
eta basically I'm a TW for having all around crappy finances with nobody to blame but myself
Our furnace is a TW. All day Saturday DH and I were thinking how chilly it was in the house. We're in Upstate NY and the temperatures over the weekend were below 0, and windchill was putting it at -20+. We live in an old house built in the late 1800's. It is drafty and even though we've done a ton of work on the upstairs to insulate it, the downstairs is still pretty rough. We just thought that the furnace wasn't able to keep up with the cold and we just bundled ourselves and DS up throughout the day.
Well, as nighttime rolled in and we were heading to bed, I noticed the thermostat said it was only 62 in our house, yet the heat was set at 70. I didn't think much of it, so we threw an extra blanket on our bed, and headed to bed. DS sleeps in a long sleeve onsie, fleece sleeper, and a swaddle. He always has, and he's been content and warm. We woke up to feed him at 1:40 in the morning and the thermostat said 54!!! My throat was killing me and I was sniffling. We fed the baby and I told DH, he needed to call his mother, or I'd call my dad, because we can't stay in this house. Especially since Valentine's Day was projected to be just as cold. Not that I wanted to venture out into the frigid cold with a baby, but it was sure as hell better than staying in our house.
To wrap up this long story, our furnace is on its way out. DH and I are hoping it'll last for the next couple of months until we can turn it off in April and be done with it for the season. We knew we'd need to invest in a new one, and plan on getting Central Air in our house when we do buy a new one, but the thought of it potentially crapping out with a good 2 months left of winter, makes me nervous.
Tiredness is a TW. LO has decided he doesn't like to sleep after feeding, for about 3 hours, so he's exhausted and I'm exhausted. Sleeping when the baby sleeps is so much harder than it sounds!
@Ebiejay Yes! I totally agree with you about the sleeping. I have only napped a handful of times since LO was born when he is actually sleeping too. I don't know why, but I feel like the few times I did, it made me even more tired. There were even a few times when I tried to lay down and all I did was rack my brain on the million things I needed/wanted to get done around the house.
I love my child. I love my child. I love my child. That's my mantra today. But seriously, DS's go-go gadget arms are total TWs today! So far, my wonderful toddler has cleared (or attempted to clear) my counters of a full coffee tin, a newly opened box of cereal, and 3 baby bottles. He also can reach the knobs on my stove and tried to snag the baking sheet and a spatula off of said stove top.
Oh, and he learned how to take his own shirt off. Yay for hitting the "stripping" phase right when I have a newborn. I'm predicting the next time we venture into public being after my children are at least... oh, I don't know, 18 years old. *eye roll*
Our LO was wide awake from 2:30-5:30 AM. At 5 AM our cat caught its first mouse in our kitchen and was playing with it. Hubby caught it and threw it outdoors. What a night.
The people JACK HAMMERING outside my house are TWs. Seriously, I know the house burned down and now you need to deal with the husk of a house, but I have a 6 week old and a toddler who need naps! Shut up!
