Pan caught fire-smoke inhalation?

I was making dinner and the pan of oil caught fire and it smoked up the kitchen pretty bad. I was holding the pan for a couple minutes trying to figure out where to put it before dropping it in the sink and then finding the lid to cover it. I did run and open the back door to help ventilate the room but I know I foresure inhaled some of the smoke. I kept finding black on my fingers and thought it was makeup before I realized it was coming out of my nose when I breathed out through my nose. I blew my nose and there was black stuff on the tissue... I'm 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow, I'm just wondering if this is something I should be really concerned about for the baby's sake?? I have an appointment on Thursday scheduled already... I also woke up in middle of the night with a sore throat and stuff (so I'm fighting another cold now) and I think my current achiness and sore throat is just from the cold and nothing to do with the smoke but I don't know foresure...

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • I say your fine.

  • I think you'll probably be fine, but you could put in a call to your doctor first thing in the morning if you want to help set your mind at ease.
  • i would mention it to your doctor at your appointment, however I'd say you're fine. when i was a little past 20 weeks i was making popcorn on the stove top, but when i went to check the laundry pregnancy brain kicked in & i completely forgot about the popcorn. SO came in to an appartment FILLED with smoke & had a panic attack. i couldn't smell the smoke or hear the popcorn popping thanks to a horrible cold i had, & of course our usually auper sensitive smoke alarm didnt go off. i was THIS close to setting the place on fire! hahah. anyways, long story short, i was fine & baby was fine so I'm going to say you're fine as well.
  • Calm yourself- you're fine
  • Thanks everyone for the answers! And @kyraaD my usually sensitive smoke alarm didn't go off either lol! But it's in the dining room of our apartment and not the kitchen (is that normal?) and I guess opening the back door quickly enough kept it from going off. My kitchen still smells smoky though and it's kind of icky...
  • ....you're fine.  Don't stress over it :)
