C-Section Mama's Question

DD is 12 weeks tomorrow. My incision looks great, healed no problem, not red, it's completely healed and closed up... But I worked my first 12 hour shift Sunday and it felt sore after! Not the skin, but it felt like it was bruised and just had a dull ache from deeper in. Does this happen to anyone else when they're really active for a day? I know fat tissue doesn't have a good blood supply so it can take longer for adipose tissue to heal... I'm wondering because I'm bigger if it's that.

Re: C-Section Mama's Question

  • I had a csection with both of my kids. I'm only 7 week out from my second but I had that happen almost 6 months out with my first. It's just super tender and I could tell if I over did it.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm 10 weeks out but I know if I move just right it's sore...like you said more of a bruised feeling
  • Mine feels this way as well. I went back to work yesterday and had to wear looser scrub bottoms today. It's on the side where she tied the sutures and that probably has more scar tissue?
  • Yes! I'm 8 wks pp but I still avoid tight clothes & underwear for this reason. Also my weight loss just totally stalled. Completely annoying.
  • Sounds normal, I guess! I'm about 8 weeks PP and still sore sometimes. Especially if I get attacked by an allergy sneezing fit...
  • I had a csection 7 yrs ago and when I got pregnant this time around, the incision hurt on the inside. It's the scar tissue and is fairly common.
  • Yup, If I do a lot im sore the next day. 10.5 weeks PP

Like others said this is common.  Since they cut through muscle that is likely what you are feeling.  You're muscles aren't back to what they were yet and are getting sore as you begin to use them more.  This is my second c section and it is worse for me this time around. First time it took a few months to get to a new normal.

    Edited because autocorrect sucks.

  • Love this thread. I'm 10 weeks pp and I had complications with my c section and I'm a ftm so I chalked up the same symptoms to my complications.
  • I'm 9 weeks PP and I used to have a sharp pain in my sides under my hips a couple weeks ago and OB said it was healing on the inside. I get the bruised feeling if I'm out and about for too long. Also, DD kicks my scar sometimes when she's fussy. I have to side lay to nurse because of my let down :(
  • Same here... Almost 11 weeks pp. I also got my tubes tied at 6 weeks so I feel like it set me back another month. I tried doing my usual 3 mile walk last week and was completely wiped out by the 2.5 mile point. My groin even hurts if I do too much. My doctor said its normal.
  • This happens to me, too. I was actually just noticing it last night.  I also find that ab exercises are still uncomfortable.
  • I'm 11.5 weeks pp and still have strange pains above my incision when I get up after sleeping during the night...I must twist my hips weird or something. Also some days when I do my normal 3 mile walk around the neighborhood I still can feel some discomfort. But then again I felt like absolute doggy do until 7 weeks pp.
  • I'm 6w pp and DD kicks mine (while over my shoulder) and it gets really sore! Will the hardness around it go away? Like underneath the skin - is that scar tissue?
  • Thanks for the responses ladies! Wow... I'm not alone at all. Yes, the hardness goes away... It take a little while longer but it'll smooth out and get less lumpy @grkgdss00
  • I am 10 weeks PP and mine gets sore sometimes too. I also have noticed if I do too many ab workouts it gets very sore.

  • I'm 11 weeks pp and it still gets really sore from time to time...almost like it's bruised, but only on the left side above my incision, and it feels really hard there too. Doesn't help that my DD likes to be bounced and rocked all the time.
