Out sweet baby girl has finally come to join us!
Wednesday, I went in for my regular appointment. Since I test GBS neg he wanted to try and sweep my membranes. He did that and yowza... that hurt like a mother!! I went home and didn't have any spotting or anything. Had the hubby rub my trigger points on my legs just to help move something.
At 4am Thursday, I woke up and was having some pretty severe cramping/contractions. I also had some brown discharge which was said to be common after the sweep. I started time contractions and they were about 6 mins apart and 30 seconds long. They varied over the next few hours but stayed close to that.
We decided that we would go in around 10:30 am. My contractions were pretty close to 5 mins apart. They got me into triage and decided that it was baby day. There was only 1 room available and they needed to save that just in case someone came in ready to deliver. They got my IV started in triage and as soon as a room was open, they got me moved.
Many whole intention was to go natural. But when they said I was only at 3cm and it could be hours before I delivered, I decided to get the epidural. And I'm hella glad I did.
I finally got to 5cm about 6 hours checking in. And I proceeded to stay there for another 6 hours. They finally can in and started pitocin and broke my water. This got things going. I jumped quickly to 9cm. Around 12:30am they told me it was time to start pushing. Little miss was so not wanting to come out. And my uterus was not really having contractions regularly and it took 2 hours of active labor to get her out. 23 hours after I started labor, at 2:51am today, Eleanor Charlotte finally made her debut. 7lbs 2oz, 19 inches long. She was covered in muconium (and I mean COVERED). The doc was a little worried. They had the NICU on standby just in case. They were able to suction everything and she's been doing great. She's already had 2 40 minute feedings. Latching like a pro!
Not to be biased but we think she is just about the cutest thing ever! She has so much hair and the nurses just love when we send her to the nursery so they can cuddle on her.
DH has been amazing. He was a big ball of tears when she finally got here. It's the second time that I've ever seen him cry. I have to fight him for time to hold her. But I love the bonding they are doing.
