What bedding do you use for baby?

Hey Mamas, I've seen lots of conflicting information on what is "best", so I'm wondering what you use to help your baby sleep! Our hospital told us that swaddling isn't recommended but it's the only thing that keeps my baby girl asleep for more than 30 minutes.

  • We swaddle with a blanket for daytime naps and just started using a swaddle sleep sack at bedtime since he can break out of the blanket swaddle in about two minutes

  • Obsessed with the sleep sack at night.  Couldn't live without it
  • We swaddle some nights if bedtime isn't going as planned (she's fussing). And use a single blanket tucked in at her waist. But, we'll be moving her from her newborn napper to the pack and play (she's getting big) and I don't know how relaxed I'll be with her having a blanket and so much space to move around with it so I'm going to pick up a sleep sack.

  • Sleep sacks! Everyone loves them and she stays nice and warm. She hates being cold just like mommy and daddy. We will swaddle her in a blanket for naps if we're watching her
  • If you read the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations on SIDS prevention, they state there is nothing wrong with swaddling, it just doesn't necessarily REDUCE the risk of SIDS, but it also does not increase the risk. I say do it if it works for your LO. That's what we do! The only consideration I would recommend is ensuring your swaddle doesnt make LO too warm, as that can increase the risk of SIDS

  • We use a thick swaddle sack sometimes, without a blanket because she would get too hot. It seems to help with her gas/colic problems. Most of the time we just cover her with a blanket and tuck it around her-she HATES being swaddled!
  • We use a blanket swaddle during the day and at night we put him in the Swaddle Me sack that folds him up nice and snug like a little baby burrito.  :p
  • LO absolutely hates being swaddled and his feet have to be free. We cosleep and he sleeps nestled into me, we help keep each other warm...he is a little furnace when he sleeps!

  • We love the swaddle me wrap sack! Arms can be in or out and plenty of room for feet to move! And I feel like it's not too light or heavy.
  • We are in love with the Halo sleep sack.  It is the only thing that will enable LO to sleep in the bassinet in our room (otherwise she vastly prefers the crib - no idea why!)  Anyway, she is snug as a bug in it and we make sure to only have her in a onesie underneath vs. a sleeper so she doesn't overheat.  (The sleep sack is very warm and we live in a warm climate.)
  • Our little man is still small enough to fit in the swaddle pod which he loves, but it's thin and it's cold here so we also swaddle him in a light receiving blanket. We have some swaddle me wraps for when he grows out of his pod. He's a little Houdini but the pod keeps him in his blanket swaddle!
  • We use a swaddle sack for now and LO loves it. He calms right down as soon as he's swaddled. He's 5 weeks old now, and as soon as he gains control of his arms we will switch him to sleep sacks. During the day if he's sleeping he eventually wakes himself up by hitting himself in the face and I would rather avoid that at night :)
  • Depends on what I have in reaching distance. Usually a swaddle blanket. But I also have a normal blanket I tuck around. I do have sleep sacks but haven't really used them much.

  • We swaddle with a blanket for naps, but lo can break out pretty easily so we use either a halo sleep sack or miracle blanket for bedtime.
  • My hospital swaddles all the babies. But I personally swaddle with a receiving blanket. My son loves it and he sleeps really good all bundled up.
  • We tried the halo bags with the swaddle, but my little control freak absolutely hates her hands being trapped. So we use a sleep sack or the halo swaddle with the Velcro done loosely around her belly, not her arms. My nephew, on the other hand, loooooves being burrito'ed. Totally depends on the kid :)
