4mo old extra clingy?

Anyone else going through this? For the past 2 weeks my 4 mo old is super clingy. They say she fine at day care and plays. But when i habe her at home i feel like all she does is cry.
She has also started not letting me sit to rock her. She wont go down for naps for longer than 20 mins. I used to be able to count on a good 2 hour block to get stuff done. Now shell nap...if im holding her. Yesterday i tried to put her down at 11. Woke up at 1120. Tried again at 1..woke up at 120. So i gave up and layed in bed with her and she napped 130 to 430!.. meanwhile. I could hear the laundry pile growing.

Anyone else? And how are you getting anything done??

P.s. LO HATES the carrier.

Re: 4mo old extra clingy?

  • Yup! My girl used to hate being held and only wanted to be laying on her playmat or in the rock n play (probably from 2 months-4months) and now all she wants is to be held and bounced around. She's also taken a ton of naps on me which she hasn't done since she was around 8 weeks old. Unfortunately I have no advice as my baby loves the carrier and that's what I use to get things done!

  • Yep. My son has been doing this for three weeks. He even stopped letting dad hold him or feed him. Can sit or lay until he is passed out cold...and even stopped sleeping well at night. I have to breathe and remember all my chores will still be there when I get a second and if hubby doesn't like he will have to do them. Right now I get through it by remembering in a few months he won't want me to hold him like this so I'm enjoying it while I can.

I wouldn't say my daughter cries all the time, but I've noticed that she also isn't taking long naps and fusses/whines until she is held. She didn't used to do that before daycare...I have a feeling they might rock her to sleep there. She also won't really nap during the day anymore unless it's a totally flat surface, like a crib, because that's what she naps on it daycare. When we were home during maternity leave she'd regularly sleep in the mamaroo or rock n play, but no more.

On the plus side, she gives me a good 10-11 hours of sleep each night now!
  • I rub his clothing on me before putting it on my doctor said that if baby smells my scent he will feel more comfortable going to be bed alone.
  • I will definately try that!! Thanks!
  • We are in the same boat. DH and I started a yard project this weekend only to find out we had to do our project in shifts to hold LO. He has been extra fussy and we've started co-sleeping to get night time sleep in, he started waking up 2-4 times a night to eat.

Oh man!!! I havent started full on co sleeping but when she wakes up at 4 its easier to take her into bed with me than to spend an hour trying to get ger down alone again. I hope im not setting myself for failure. She still goes down at 10 fine but im just so tired in the middle of the night to fight with her. Shell literally fall right back to sleep next to me.

Eta. We did have success with her afternoon nap yesterday again! Trying to put her down now so well see how it goes today.
  • Were having a similar problem. I'm a SAHM but most of my day is him refusing to let me put him down. Most naps are super short unless they're in my arms. I just started belly sleeping for his nap and he slept for over an hour today! It's the only way he naps. He is completely miserable if he's not eating right now. I'm guessing he's starting to teethe but this is exhausting. I also do sleep after he wakes the first time. It's just the ok much and momma needs sleep too
  • Yep 10 min nap in crib today....not good. Im so tired all the time!!! But ill say tonight was a better night cranky wise. Much less crying on both out parts!! I dont know if i buy into the whole wonder weeks thing. But it really seems to be right on as far as stormy time and sunny times.
