Has anyone read any good books about pregnancy, childcare or parenting? I thought we could share some titles and recommendations. I am starting Bringing Up Bébé - I will let you know what I think.
I started reading Eat, Play, Sleep: The essential guide to your baby's first three months by Luisa Desouza and I'm loving it. The author is so calming and reassuring that you can handle the newborn stage, and its an easy read so far.
I'm reading the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, provided by my doctors office. It's straight forward, factual, and I like it; but it's pretty generic.

One of the books my mom got for me is Mother Comes Naturally: And Other Vicious Lies. It lets you know that you are not alone in having some issues with adjusting to motherhood, and no one is a "perfect" parent. It's both humorous and reassuring.
I read Bringing Up Bébé by Pamela Druckerman over the holidays. I enjoyed it. The author is funny and her point of view seems pretty down to earth. She's from NYC, raising her kids in Paris, and makes some observations about French parenting that she thinks she and maybe other Americans can benefit from. It's a good combination of her own experiences and anecdotes, along with some research mostly from French doctors and child development experts. At the end of the book she summarizes her recommendations into a list of tips. This could be useful for anyone who wants to skip her narrative or use the summary as a reference guide of sorts. It's an entertaining read and I'm sure most readers will find something to take away from it.
Any suggestions on childbirth books? Our hospital L&D class was great, but didn't spend much time at all on massage, relaxation, breathing, etc techniques. Any book/website/video recommendations??
@flipFlop1025 I think Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is awesome. I also read Hypnobirthing and it dives into relaxation and visualisation techniques even more, but they need to be practiced daily to be effective, I guess.
I read a hypnobirthing book, which really calmed down my stress/fear of labour. I dont believe you can actually labour or birth with no pain *only my opinion* but they explain alot about how your body works in labour and there are lots of self help, relaxation and breathing techniques. It really helped me feel better. There is also a book i read called birth skills, which essentially subscibes to the opposite theory, but that one wasnt for me. My SIL loved that one though
I'm also reading eat play sleep by Luiza desouza. Only about halfway through but she is going through newborn essentials and is very calm and upfront about issues that might come up!
