Lab mix up

My husband had his SA yesterday and I had my consultation today.  As my husband was driving me to my appt he got the worst phone call we could ever expect.  They mixed up the lab work and his count is zero, unlike the person who they mixed it up with.  We are shocked and heartbroken, we were going into this thinking that we'd have to zero count and to have them say his count was great we were ecstatic, then to have that dream ripped away from us.

    OMG @weebitfluffy.  How devastating and not at all called for.  What a terrible thing to have to go through. :cry: 
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
    IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20

    @weebitfluffy I'm so sorry to hear of that mix up. I could imagine how disappointing that was to hear. My DH also had a sperm count of zero after 3 different SA's. He had low testosterone levels and was even put on Clomid. Still nothing. He ended up having a procedure called Micro TESE and they were able to extract sperm right from his testicle (the vials are currently frozen while I get prepped for our first IVF cycle). The doctor didn't know if he even made sperm so the procedure was our last hope for him. My point for telling you this is to hopefully lift your spirits. Medical science is amazing today. I pray your DH doesn't have to go the same route we did and you get answers soon! My fx are crossed for you! If you want to talk more, feel free to inbox me.

    Met RE: January 2016
    ER: 3/14 (4 follies, 6 eggs retrieved, 2 fertilized)
    fresh 3dt of 2 embryos= BFP (1 implanted)
    EDD w/ baby boy= 12/6/16

    What!?!?? How horrible! I'm so sorry for you guys. What a rollercoaster infertility can be.

    Started TTC April 2011
    Me: 32, DH: 32
    Diagnosis: Endometriosis

    • 2012 - 3 Rounds clomid - all BFN
    • 2013 - 1 Fresh IVF with 2 day 3 embryos - BFN
    • 2014 - 1 Frozen IVF with 2 day 5 embryos - BFN
    • Took a long break, continuing trying naturally
    • Feb 2016 - Biopsy = Endo, DH sperm improved from 1% to 6% morphology
    • March 2016 - Fresh IVF cycle with acupuncture & intralipids: 20 eggs retrieved (17 mature), 7 ICSI'd fertilized, 9 naturally fertilized. 16 total embryos!
    • April 8th - 2 embryos (1ICSI and 1 Natural) transferred. (7 blastocysts frozen), April 18th - Beta = BFN
    • Sept 23rd - Lupron Depot Injection for Endo control
    • Nov 15th 2016 - Started daily Lupron Injections for upcoming FET
    • Nov 22 - Baseline US/BW - Intralipid Infusion - Start Meds for FET with immune protocol
    • Dec 16th FET transfer of 3 embryos (1 - AA, 2 - BB)
    • TW below
    • Dec 22nd - first ever bfp (very faint lines FRER & cheapie)
    • Dec 27th Beta = 192, Dec 29th Beta = 379
    • EDD - Sept 5th 2017

    Thank you, I have a feeling that we'll be headed towards IVF.  We're thinking a blockage due to a hernia and hernia repair he had 12 years ago.

    @weebitfluffy - so awful. I'm so sorry.
    We knew about my DH's low morphology (1%) just from sperm analysis, but our last RE never looked into the reason why his morph was so low (new doc has diagnosed varicocele, and unfortunately there were cysts so there's concern of testicular cancer). Our last RE spent years telling me I was fine. Only when I found the new doc was I diagnosed with endo. So needless to say, bad news seems to always be just around the corner. 

    I wish your story were different for you :( I'm sorry you're dealing with this. 
    ps. when you say count is zero does he have azoospermia? What's the plan of action for you guys now?
