Today at work my stomach got really tight 3 times, or felt like a Braxton hicks contraction. But. . I'm only 20 weeks. Any moms out there that have experienced them this early? Is it normal?
Mine does this when I use the bathroom and pee. It gets very tight and causes some pain that lets up after a minute or so. Never had Braxton hicks so I'm not sure if that's exactly what it is but definitely have the tightening at times. I am 22 weeks.
I have been getting them early on. I would get them right after sex. Lately, they have been more random. Got one today while just sitting in a meeting.
Yes. I've had them since 14 weeks this time and starting around 16 weeks with my first. Many doctors advise calling in only if you have 5+ BH in an hour while already resting and properly hydrated. If you can, put your feet up for a bit and chug water-- it usually helps to keep them at bay a little.
Eta: I got similar contractions while pregnant and nursing before DS weaned too.
I started getting them at about 18 weeks but didn't realize what they were until this week! I have definitely found that staying hydrated helps to keep them at bay. I also find that they are more frequent on days when I am quite busy or do a lot physically.
With my first pregnancy I has BH starting at 15w and by 3rd tri they really picked up, but I still had to be induced at almost 41w so obviously the BH weren't doing anything.
As long as they aren't painful or coming too frequently they are totally normal.
I was just thinking this the other day, like really this early?? I couldn't remember if this happened around this time with DD, but I probably didn't even know if I was actually having them or not either. Glad to see everyone else noticing them
You've already gotten some great answers but yes! I get them too. And sometimes I even get a few in a row. I've talked to my doctor about it and he said it's totally ok as long as you don't get too many in an hour and they aren't painful. Obviously other doctors may have other guidelines, but that was his. I just drink tons of water and put my feet up and they usually subside quickly. They always kind of make me pause and pay attention, but they are common! Hope that helps!
Mine started at 14 weeks with this one and around the same as you with DD. It's normal. Just keep an eye out for them being repetitious, really painful, and consistent without stopping. Try putting your feet up, drinking more water, and/or laying on your left side for about an hour. ETA I didn't have them at 1 week bc I didn't know I was pg at 1 week.

I've been having what I assume are BH contractions. I've also had an incredibly painful cramping pain covering my entire abdomen all day today. Not concerned but has any mom experienced this? Not sure if it is round ligament pain or what.
Yes, I've had the all-around cramping pain. I assumed it was RLP. Mine happened around 20w, lasted about an hour, and was so bad that I could barely walk. But then it went away and I haven't had it since. I've had milder RLPs since then, but nothing as bad as that incident.

Yes. For the most part this is what my BH feel like. Mine are painful whereas others say they feel no pain.

Yes, BH contracts are normal they are your body's way of strengthening your uterus for birth, yes certain activities can bring them on. If they are bothering you try changing your position, relaxing, putting your feet up etc.
I start getting uterine tightening super early, like 8-10 weeks. I have with all 3 of my pregnancies, and when I told my mom with my first, thinking I was crazy, she told me she also started feeling them mega early.
I'm sure some will call me a special snowflake, and that's ok. I am not one of those that thinks I can feel my baby move at 11 weeks.
Question about BH: I'm 24 weeks and felt a new sensation, but not sure if it's BH or not. After dinner I laid down to read emails and baby was moving a ton, to the point where some of the kicks were shockingly strong. Then the front of my abdomen around my belly button got a cramp-like sensation. It was a slight ouch, not terrible pain or sharp like the round ligament pain I've felt. It lasted for 8-10 seconds and happened 3 times. I'm not sure if this was BH because it didn't go all the way around my torso, it was about the space of a hand on each side of my bellybutton. baby stopped moving after and has only had small movements since.
Does this sound like anything familiar? Is this just new RLP?
Has anyone experienced pressure during BH contractions? The contractions themselves haven't been painful, but I feel so much pressure on my cervix until the pass.

It could have been the baby flipping around to a new position. Sometimes I get an intense uncomfortable feeling and then I notice a change in movement.
