I need to start tracking my kicks and my luck shes up and kicking while I am busy at work! Lol a little turkey already! What apps have you guys tried and like? Thanks!

Re: Which baby kick app?

  • I don't keep up with the kicks. I note mentally when I feel her and can pretty much tell you what time of day she is going to start. That being said though I have the Baby Center app that has kick counter in their tools.

  • The free "Baby Kicks" app is adequate, though I'd like one that reminded me at certain times to do my kick counts and I'd also prefer if you could delete saved sessions (I started counting baby's rolls just for giggles and now I can't get them off the app!).  But it was free, and it's a simple interface and shows you in list form (not chart form, which would be nice as well) what the duration and time of day was when you recorded ten kicks.

Another feature I'd like would be if the app could sort kick count sessions by time of day so I could compare morning movement patterns to daytime or evening movement patterns.

I'd like to see what other ladies are using! But, in the meantime, "Baby Kicks" is free and adequate:) Maybe the paid version is better?
  • I guess this is something I need to start looking at. I know around 28 weeks the doctor likes you to count them, or at least try and keep track.

  • With my first, I just set an alarm on my phone for a time of day that is usually pretty slow at work and when it went off I paid close attention until I got to 10 kicks. If baby was sleeping, I would set a reminder for a half hour or hour later and try again. But I didn't feel like I needed an app to count to 10. ;)

  • So from what I gathered so far its recommended to start counting kicks around 28 weeks? My LO has active period in the morning and again in the evening but sometimes I don't feel anything in between that and I am 26 weeks 2 days. Will the babies move more constantly the farther along or do they still have these long, still moments?
  • I'm 25 weeks prego and my baby girl is most active when I'm in bed sleeping and after most of my meals. Keeping track of her movement's are hilarious because it's like she's running track.
  • The Ovia pregnancy app has a kick counter on it too.

  • I am 28 weeks 2 days. I asked my Dr about kick counts last week and he said that they really aren't necessary and to just monitor for periods where baby isn't moving normally. Kick counting just seems like a real inconvenience. Did your Dr recommend that you do them? It seems to vary Dr to Dr.

My doctor told me to do them in 3rd Tri, only if I feel less movement. The instructions I was given specifically say to eat a meal, wait 30 min to an hour, then lay on your left side. You are looking for a minimum of 5 kicks/hour I believe.

I intend to use my WebMD Pregnancy App. I like the information and it also has a contraction timer for when the time comes.

  • My doc has also recommended that I start at around 28 weeks. Going from memory from my first, you count 10 kicks within an hour, if you don't get 10, lie still, with no distractions, maybe drink something sugary, and try again to count 10 kicks in an hour. If you go two hours without 10 kicks in an hour you're supposed to go in to get monitored and make sure baby is ok.
