Trying to Get Pregnant

Vent: Stupid __ ER!!! (Kinda long)

Ok ladies... I promised I would follow up post ER. Here is what happened... they didn't do a fvcking thing! O wait they drew a little blood, did a urine test (after asking me 500 times if I was pg.. HELLO is it not written in the chart for that reason?!), gave me some Demerol (sp?) for pain, and Zofran for nausea through an IV. Then they said "Well Mrs. P... you have a little bit of an infection your WBC count is a little high. Gome home, take these antibiotics and drink plenty of fluids." And I said "Okay well what about the stabbing pains?" he said it might be related to the infection... have a great night!

Seriously?! I spend 6 hours in a cold asss ER room for this? They said if the pain persisted through the Demerol (through morning) and my nausea returned or got worse (vomiting, diahrrea, etc) to come back or see my PCP but to see my PCP regardless in 5 days.....

  • I read your previous post and it still sounds like you have an appendicitis. I'm not sure what else you can do at the moment, but if you still don't feel well in the morning, is there an Urgent Care center you could try? I hope you feel better and good luck.

  • Sorry about that!  Are you feeling better now?
  • Oh man! Well, did the drugs work? Are you feeling better this am?
  • I really hope you are ok....I had appendicitis a few years ago with the same symptoms as you at first....pain started behind my belly button which I had no idea meant appy.  Also, your WBC would be elevated with appy as well!  Let us know please....I'm praying for you!

  • I checked your previous post, too, and I'm just curious on your symptoms.

It can be different for everyone, but here's how I felt when I had to have my appendix out (which perforated and was no picnic, so get to the hospital again if you're worried you have an appy):

    -felt like indigestion at first
-felt like I had to poop but couldn't/actually didn't have to
-started to get nauseous, took several hours before I threw up
-couldn't keep anything down, felt like a really bad stomach flu
-couldn't get comfortable, no matter what position I was in- NOTHING gave any relief
-came to a point where I couldn't walk, and barely crawl?
-when the pain finally localized, it was in the center- apparently my appendix was behind my bladder?
-ended up with exploratory lap and they found the perforated appendix and got rid of it.

I really hope you don't have appendicitis- I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But if you think you might, please please please get to the doctor again before it perforates. They gave me demerol and phenergan at the hospital at first, too, and it only helped minimally (the phenergan did more good than the demerol).
  • Thanks for your help ladies... the Zofran helped a lot. But I am a little nausueas this morning. I dont really have any pain right now except that my back is killing me. I am going to make an appt with my PCP Monday morning (unless it gets worse before then). The demerol just made me out of it. I dunno what's goin on... but I do know my temp was higher than normal today.
