I took them for 10 weeks after have a corpus luteum cyst rupture, mainly as a precaution. I hated them but the dr felt it was necessary. Once the placenta was formed he had me taper them off then stop them all together. I found they caused a lot of bloat and gas as well as increased breast pain. Overall though they had very little side effects. Not sure if you had a particular question but that was my experience with them.
Expecting baby #1 August 2016
Already have three furbabies- Blake, Sydney, and Chester
I am on 200 mg of Prometrium nightly through my first tri and I just wear a liner to bed to save my panties from being destroyed. I haven't noticed any increase in symptoms. From my reading, it seems they are worse if you take them orally or perhaps several times during the day. So far, so good, I suppose... time will tell if it helps.
I took them until 12W (i'm 12W4D today). As unpleasant as inserting one of those down south, I didn't really have any issues. Best time to take them is before bed so you aren't moving around and nothing comes out--just make sure you're in bed for the night when you do--much easier! My doctor did say it may cause more "irritability" due to the additional hormones (and I can vouch b/c a friend of mine was on them and they made her crazy angry all the time) and it can make constipation symptoms worse, which happened to me. If you take them, drink lots of fluids, take a fiber supplement, and a stool softener if you're having bathroom issues.
I'm currently taking them twice a day. My doctor said to use them until I am 10 weeks. I've got about 3 1/2 weeks left. I wear a liner all day, I change them frequently throughout the day.
