Show off your maternity photos!

There was a previous thread asking if you were having maternity photos done, but not about showing off of you already have had them done! I know some of you have probably already done maternity photos for your holiday cards or announcements, and I would love to see what you've done! I know some people think that maternity photos are cheesy, but I love having something to document what I went through for my LO. I want to wait until the last minute to do this this time around, since I feel like my bump wasn't "big" enough for the look I wanted.

If you're a veteran mom who hasn't taken any maternity photos for this baby yet, show off what you did for your previous pregnancies!

These are from DS1! I was 23 weeks in the picture with the book, and the other two I think I was 33 weeks? DH's uncle is a photographer, so in exchange for photo shoots he gets to try out new processes on us that he couldn't do with a client.

Also, just for fun! I was looking up Christmas maternity photos for pose ideas, and stumbled across this gem. Eat your heart out April's!

We did 23 week photos on Sunday. We paid a lady $15 for an hour session, plus editing and rights because she is starting her portfolio. She didn't do a bad job but you could tell she bought a fancy camera and is new to the game.

I don't like what she imposed on the chalkboard, she also spelled "waiting" wrong. (Wating on our princess 4/8/2016)

**ETA: I shouldn't have worn black because it doesn't really show off my bump, just makes me look chubby.

I actually want to do something out of my comfort zone this time around for photos. I keeps seeing the naked/only underwear and bra silhouettes and I just think that they are gorgeous.

I think my favorite funny maternity photo that I've seen floating around is the one with the guy holding a sign that says "I did that."

I haven't even thought about this yet... I'd better start looking for photographers. When is a good time for photos (i.e: when our bellies are nice and round but our face and ankles are not too swollen yet?)

It really depends on how big of a bump you want in the photos and what type of poses you want to do. I usually recommend waiting until around 30-34 weeks, just so you have a larger bump but aren't going to die from moving around a lot for the shoot. I actually think I'm going to be crazy and have mine done right before I'm 37 weeks, just so I can try and get as massive of a bump as possible into the pictures. I felt like I was tiny in my last set of maternity photos, but this baby is also showing a lot more than DS1.

A lot of photographers also do discounts if you book a maternity and newborn shoot with them.

24 weeks here. This isn't my "official" photo shoot, but we were doing family photos and my brother who is a photographer quickly took a few maternity ones for me. I'll do an official shoot with him in a month or two probably.

Here's a few from our "shoot" with my SIL while we were both pregnant. We took each other's pictures with my nice camera and then I did some editing. I was a couple days short of 37 weeks and DD came 2 weeks after the shoot.

I'm a part time photographer and have done maternity shoots for others but I don't have anyone to do for me LOL. This is just a phone snapshot from last week since I don't think I will do a professional session.

They're cute for others but the idea of having them taken is so awkward to me. I want limited to no photo documentation of my time spent as a beluga whale. I think there are less than 5 photos in existence from my last pregnancy. I may actually get family/NB pics done this time around though once DD is here though.

Like @elasticheart13 I also reconsidered my maternity photo decision after seeing your pics… But the problem is that it is a snowy mush out there, and photos would likely have to be done in a studio rather than outdoors, and I don't like studio photos… I find them cheesy…. If we had good weather and could take more spontaneous photos outdoors, I think I would do it...

I haven't experienced any swelling so far; fingers crossed it stays like that

@elasticheart13 hopefully you don't swell, but be careful - I didn't keep an eye on it and nearly broke my finger trying to get my wedding ring off and I don't feel that swollen yet. Pregnancy is so beautiful

@dayzchic9 I love winter maternity photos! Your daughter's face in the photo is absolutely adorable. I'm always afraid little kids won't cooperate for photos. I'm glad yours did.

Yeah she did for these... the solo ones of her she kept doing this freaking monster smile driving me and DH nuts! Grrrr... three year olds are SO much fun!

I encourage you both to find a cool backdrop location, like a cool building or something because "foggy and grey" actually makes for AMAZING lighting for photos. It's a natural white, diffused light.

Beautiful pics ladies! We just took ours on Friday. Waiting about a week for teasers. It was SO cold though. We had to literally keep taking DS1's jacket on and off in between pics. Crazy windy chill in Florida on that day of all days! Can't wait to see how the pics come out though!
