Not sure what to do

Well the RE let me do one round of clomid days 3-7. After two ultrasounds and labs it didn't work. Which has me so bummed out. So they asked if I would come back on the 29th. I know they want me to do ivf but I don't know if we can spend that money right now.

They said aid I have textbook pcos and have about 20 follicles on my ovaries. So I don't know if they will let me try injectables first. I just feel so discouraged.

Any of you ladies been here before. Just not sure what to do.

Re: Not sure what to do

  • I haven't been through anything like this but I will say I did three rounds of clomid iuis and I'm on my third of injectable iuis. I would have loved to skip the iui injectables since the chances are higher with ivf. I would try to talk to re and get more information on ur options. Good luck!

  • I plan to talk to him. His nurse said I may not be able to do injectables only due to how many antro follicles I have. So hopefully we can can try that.

  • I also have pcos...I did 9 months of clomid and unmonitored cycles with a regular obgyn before moving on to an RE. Those didn't work and my RE said I probably didn't even ovulate during those months since the cycles were not monitored. Then I went through 3 IUIs with injectables which also didn't work. I then switched REs and went for a second opinion. The new RE gave me higher dosage of clomid again which also didn't work. I switched clinics and ended up with RE #3 who was puzzled why any other doctor would have me go through so much clomid after the initial cycles didn't work. Needless to say, we decided to move on to IVF.

  • I started off with IUI without knowing I had PCOS. I do maybe ovulate. The test are positive, but no guarantee that the egg releases as they don't mature. After that I did 2 rounds IUI and went to IVF as I still hadn't a guarantee I ovulate an egg and the success rates are low.
IVF scared me, but I'm glad I took that step. Knowing that I have a fertilised egg placed back takes away the stress of 'did i ovulate' 'do I have mature eggs' 'did I pick the right time'
I pay everything out of my own pocket, and IVF is definitely not cheap. But I could have saved so much money by trying IVF much sooner.

Choose that what you are comfortable with, and that will be the right choice.
