We all love our babies but...

We all love our babies dearly... but I thought it would be fun to share what about them drives you a little looney?

For me, this little girl has the absolute worst smelling farts ever! Also, she's in snack mode and eats less than an ounce and refuses any more until after I dump out the bottle... then she screams as if she hasn't been fed in a week!

  • Today my baby has been having bad gas or reflux or something. Last night he didn't go down for his longer sleep stretch until 4, back up at 7:20. Hasn't had a nap longer than 45 minutes and has been on the boob every waking minute... This mommy is getting frustrated.

  • She flings her arms around like crazy when she's fussing. It makes it next to impossible to get a bottle or soother in her mouth.

  • The past 2 days she wants to be held constantly. I love the snuggles, but as soon as i put her down she's awake. I let her lay in the bassinet and she just kicks and wiggles and makes a racket. I pick her up and she goes right to sleep. Mama needs a nap too
My baby has been doing the same! And only at night! During the day I put her down and she sleeps for hours....at night I put her down and 15 mins later she's back awake! Grrrr
  • She is legitimately afraid of the dark. If we don't have at least a night light on, she loses it. Can't walk down the hall with the lights off or she screams. If she's asleep and we turn off the night light, she wakes up screaming.

  • It would be great if DS would grow out of this reflux, stomach issue we've been battling since week 3.  He is now 7w old. I hate guessing whether or not something is working for him, or if it's making things worse.  I also don't want to keep equating everything to, "He was born 6 weeks early, so he has some catching up to do."  Will he ever catch up?  When do I stop considering the fact he was preemie and whether or not that's the reason he's acting the way he is?

If he doesn't poop for a day, or he begins making a noise that he never has before or maybe one he hasn't made for a few days, I begin to question everything from; formula, sleep, medicine that we're giving now, bottles, etc.

The questions are non stop and here I thought my biggest concern would be, "when does he start sleeping through the night?" Pffft!
  • DS will only sleep on me and the only pacifier he'll take is my boob! My poor hubby feels completely useless since he can't sooth DS.
  • I feel bad for her dad, he gets so defeated at night sometimes when he changes her. Tonight has been the worst. She's been screaming her head off every time she gets changed and won't stop until there's boob in her mouth..... And of course he can't do that to soothe
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one with similar problems!

Mine had two massive blow outs in the matter of 24 hours. I guess it's better than being constipated? Actually kinda jealous...I could use a blow out...
  • @carlyhammond that is exactly how my son was. He would go from 7 am to 11 pm without a single nap, then wouldn't sleep at night unless he was being held. That was fun...
  • My poor baby has had a diaper rash from the nystatin he was prescribed to cure his thrush. He's 3 weeks old and he's just getting all the normal baby stuff out of the way early. But because of this awful rash (we've tried everything on it!) he's always crying, I'm assuming in pain. It gets so hard to coddle when he's shrieking in my ear all day every day. I feel so bad for him, but it gets so overwhelming. Ugh!!
  • @Knottie8644271 My Son had developed a diaper rash in NICU and they prescribed him Critacaid. (sp) Not sure if it's worth looking into getting your LO something stronger than your over the counter stuff, or if you have since you said you've tried a lot of stuff so far.
  • My DD goes from 0 to her "I'm dying" scream/cry when I can't get my boob in her mouth in 0.5 sec. Seriously people must think we torture the poor thing. Sometimes she cries so hard she passes out. She did that for the plebotomist at her first doctor's appointment.

We have a gnarly case of diaper rash from meds too. I was using desitin but LO would scream like he was being tortured. We switched to Vaseline and would soothe him on his stomach until he calmed down after changings. It seems to be working for now (although cleaning up Vaseline is hard.)
  • I wish DS would let me put him down after he falls asleep without waking up and rooting around like a little boobie fiend. It usually takes at least 2, but usually 3 or more, attempts before he is really asleep for me to put him down. Mama needs to pee and refill her water cup!

  • I love her but... She hasnt slept all day. Shes 2 weeks old and hasnt slept since 9am. She will fall asleep in my arms but once I move her she's awake and crying! Come on girl!!
  • @cali1710, I wonder how many newborns actually fall within the guidelines of being awake for 45 minutes to an hour before napping again. My son certainly does not. We were up at 7:50 am this morning and he finally went down for a real nap at 1:30 and is still sleeping now at 4. Hoping your LO goes down soon, too!

  • @MissMheMhe she fell asleep at 3 but in my arms. I'm too afraid to move her. We will see how long she sleeps!
  • DS has spent all day attached to boob or screaming except one 30 minute nap where my mom held him so I could eat something. I'm tired
  • All this girl wants is my boob. And she sleeps most of the day and has been increasingly hard to get down at night.

Mine did for the first month. I almost felt like I wasn't doing my job as a parent because he would wake, get his diaper changed, eat and then be out again, for another 3 hours and we'd repeat. He is now starting to stay up more during the day, and has kind of plateaued with sleeping in longer stretches. He's 7w old now.
  • @scornwell717 I'm pretty sure if this baby's poor tummy gets its act together, the explosion will be news worthy. Poor thing is eating a ton and just not getting it out...

    Colic sucks.

Also, tonight I got 2 out of 3 kids through the tub. I also had 2 other adults here to assist. Tomorrow night #3 gets her bath... before we attempt to be social on Sunday.
  • @BarrettJ89 poor baby!!! Make sure you let me know when she has a blow out...if she hasn't pooped in a while something tells me it'll be soon!
  • My LO constantly has her hands in front of her face and is always flipping the bottle out of her mouth!!
  • @scornwell717 finally some poop! No explosions, but she pooped like 4 times Sunday and again twice yesterday. Maybe we're finally getting somewhere with this new formula!
  • My little guy keeps leaving crusty little boogers on my boob after he's done eating....ewwww. He's flushes them out with his little piggy breathing while nursing.
  • I wish we could do tummy time with baby on mommy without me getting majorly motor boated ... Hey whatever works those neck muscles
