Could use opinions! Please help a sista out

So I live in Canada with my family, boyfriend and son. After the summer my boyfriend and I plan to move to Montreal for many reasons. I currently live in Halifax and cannot stand it. The plan was to move in September because that's when my boyfriends lease was up at his apartment but he got out of that so now it's like we can go anytime. I'm hoping to go a month or so less than a year from now. My maternity leave benefits are done in August so I plan to work full time from August until January or so to save up for the move. The thing is we have nothing really of our own since we're living with my mom. We have the essentials like dressers and beds. And we have everything of my sons. My boyfriend seems to think we just should take what we have and work on it once we get there. Basically we just have no furniture to fill a living room which I am totally fine with anyways being without until we get some things. Now I'm just rambling lol I'm just looking for moving stories the same as mine or any tips or opinions. I'll be 21 by that time and my boyfriend will be 25. My son will be over a year old. We know nobody in Montreal, for those who aren't familiar it's quite awhile away from Halifax. We would be completely on our own.

    We moved from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia with a 1.5yo, pets and a uhaul. Not having a houseful of stuff is a huge advantage!! Don't buy anything you don't need in that time period :) we sold and gave away many things to minimize the moving costs. We both found jobs ahead of our move, but didn't know anyone else. We have a camper trailer, so we stayed at a campground until our house closed. We found child care and play groups through facebook, and made friends that way. I have a pregnant friend that lives in downtown Montreal. She thinks it'll be great for a baby because there are so many groups and things to do. Do you speak French?
