Surprise pregnancy & D'S only 6 mo old

I'm so worried. I was 3 days late and took a pregnancy test on a whim. I thought my body just had fluctuating hormones because I was in the process of switching pills. I took the mini pill, but it made me have my period 4 times in 7 weeks. I asked my OB if I could let my body reset and then start a different pill. He was perfectly okay with the idea. Lo and behold the one time we had sex, and yes, I know it only takes one time, I get pregnant. I should be more gratefuk. I had 2 miscarriages before my DS, but I'm just freaking out. These babies will only be 15 mo a part. I wanted to have children 2 years or more a part. I understand God's timing is perfect. I'm just trying to wrap my head around how I'm going to do this. My son is my world. I wanted to give him all my love and attention longer.

  • You will get thru this. Just think, you have about 8 more months to mentally prepare. It won't be easy. But you can definitely do it!

  • I went to high school with girls who were literally like 9.5 months apart.  Just do the math on that one...  But in all seriousness they were SO close.  They were nearly as symbiotic as twins(they still slept in the same bed at 15/16).  The older on seemed like without her younger sister she  have struggled socially.  Perhaps your older child needs that super close relationship of a sibling that close in age.

  • I actually think it may be easier because the kids will be in the same stage for a while. If the older one is 2 or 3, then they've realized they were the only child and that's also a more difficult age than a one year old. So far I think a one year old age was super easy.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

    My Charts since 2009

  • My kids were 20 months apart and planned that way. Its ok. You will make it. When I have this baby (knock on wood) my son will be 3 and my daughter will be close to 5. Its an adjustment but you can do it!

My younger siblings are 15 months apart. It's tough at the start, but it's a great age gap. At some point they start entertaining each other.

  • It's tough. My friend has two that close together.
But you can do it!! Just like any ages, there will be easy times and hard times. Good days and bad days. Your kids will be close with a special bond. Your heart will grow even more and when new baby is here, you will wonder how you ever lived without them.

  • You can do this! My sister in law had 5 under 5, and her kids are the best of friends! She is a superstar, and you will be too! My daughter is 11mo/9mo adjusted age, and she'll only be 19mo/17mo adjusted when this next babe is born. I'm nervous for when they're both still little, but I love knowing they will be able to grow up together and be friends!
  • My boys are 16 months apart, planned. It wasn't always easy, but I wouldn't change a thing. They are best buddies. You can do this.

  • My older sister and I are only 15 months apart and I love it :)
  • Hold crap sister seriously almost the same exact boat! 6month old, was on the mini pill then was switching, sex once, that's crazy! Anyway, it'll be alright, you can do this!
  • I think this could really work out great, actually. I wish my first two had been closer in age. (They are 3 years apart) my DS2 is 1 and won't be 2 when this next one comes and I am LOVING the idea of closer in age.

You will still be able to give them both plenty of love and attention.
  • My DD will only be 18 months when the new one arrives, we can do it!!
  • My daughter will be 18 months when the new LO is born. We got this!
  • I just found out I'm pregnant with baby #2. My son is 7months old so they will be close in age as well. It makes me sad cause I enjoy my time with him and I know once baby#2 is here it will be so different. It took 13 months to get pregnant with my DS and only having sex once to get pregnant this time  so while this baby was planned I thought it would take longer.
