BFM 2/8

I'm sure we all have something to gripe about!!

Re: BFM 2/8

  • I put on about 15 different outfits this morning...and hated each one.  Why are clothes so hard?  90% of my wardrobe is black or mostly black, it should all go together and not look like crap.  I just want to wear something that I don't totally hate.  DH is now pissed because there is a pile of clothes on the bed that I didn't put away before I left for work.  STFU--it was all I had to not completely break down and sob about the fact that every one of my maternity outfits pissed me off.  I'll put them away tonight, sheesh!
    Also, this.....

DD is an after 7am wake-up kid (yes, I know we're lucky). Three of the five days last week she went in to daycare (the other two she stayed home sick with DH). Every day last week I had to either wake her up to get her ready to leave, or she woke up well after 7 when she stayed home with DH. Saturday she was awake at 6:30...ok, not SO bad, but DH was sleeping in the guest room due to not wanting to keep me up with his nasty cough, so I was up with her. Then yesterday she was up at 5:45! WTH kid??? Then this morning...SAME THING! Bad enough she woke up early on the days I could have slept in, but at least I could be lazy around the house. Today I actually have to go to work and function! Plus we stayed up late to watch the Superbowl, so I got even less sleep. I am SO.TIRED. I can't even be mad at her because when she woke up at 5:45 ( :s ) she was crying out "mommy, mommy, mommy!!!" and just wanted me to cuddle her and read her books. So it was sweet...but I'm still...so...tired...

And we also watched the same Daniel Tiger episode three times in a row before 7am... :|

My BFM goes my 30 year old cousin who does not have a job and is living with my aunt. My aunt within the last year has suffered a stroke and almost died to blastomycosis, works part time at Kohl's and takes care of my disabled uncle who was battling lung cancer and is currently in remission. My cousin is marrying a lady after dating her only 3 months, they're getting married next month. I get that short term relationships can and do work out. His fiancé does not have a job either and after they get married they're all going to be staying with my aunt. She was worried about how she's going to make the living situation work given their finances. I'm upset with him because up until now he's told me pretty much all he does at home is play video games.

My other BFM is that I spent an entire Saturday rounding up my toddler's clothes she's accumulated over the last two years and OMG. I cannot believe someone that small went through all those clothes. I took them to Once Upon a Child hoping to get some money back, which I did. I got $44 back and almost everything got turned away because they said they have an overabundance of infant clothing so they could not accept most of it. My second plan was to sell whatever they didn't buy to B/S/T sites but seeing how much is left over makes me not want to bother because it would take so much time and energy out of my free time. So I'm more than likely going to donate all her clothes to the Goodwill or something because right now there's like 4 garbage bags full of baby clothes. I'm having a boy, and I am reusing whatever I can.

My other BFM is that I did my taxes on TurboTax last week and then came across a 20% off coupon this morning. I've already paid and got my refund back.

  • @rebelone, check around on FB to see if you have a local B/S/T yardsale group.  I have sold things in lots instead of piece by piece...much more successful! Just an idea :-)

  • BFM goes to my orthopedic doc. I left you a message over two weeks ago and have not yet read it??? I'm hoping I don't have to make an appointment just to get a delivery recommendation. Just look at my chart and call my OB! Is that so hard???
  • My BFM is that I am officially uncomfortable.  Pillows at night do nothing.  I am still awake two or three times to pee and them it takes at least 30 mins to go back to sleep.  Yesterday DD and I did minor shopping at Costco and Target and my hips hurt like we had gone all day when it had only been three hours tops.  I was so exhausted afterwards I napped on the couch while DD watched Frozen.  No clue how I am going to survive the next two months.

  • DH has an overnight trip so I took DD1 to daycare this morning. She was ok until I kissed her goodbye. Then she started crying, tears running down her face, calling mama and all. Heartbreaking. Not a good mix with pregnancy hormones.

I know they sell by lots, but then I don't think I have the energy to deal with the hagglers or people who say they'll buy it and never show up. As much as I do want to turn a buck I guess I'm not that willing to put forth the effort lol My husband also said he has an issue with strangers coming to the house, or going through the hassle of meeting somewhere. We're just going to donate it to the local charity and they have a donation box less than a mile away from my house.

  • @rebelone I forgot what area you are in, but do they have JBF (Just Between Friends) sales by you?  It might be a good option!
  • BFM 1 goes to the garage door company. The guy that came out to give us a quote told me they would be there around 8am to get started, and should be done by noon so I could just run home on my lunch break to settle up on final payment. I call this morning because I haven't heard from them to confirm timing and am told we are the second appointment instead of the first. So now I have no idea when they are coming and had to leave a garage door unlocked so they can let themselves in, because I can't run home in the middle of the damn day. It's almost 10 and I've still heard nothing.

BFM 2 goes to the puppy. She should be able to get through 2-3 hours at night without needing to go out, which is fine. DH slept in one of the boys' rooms last night because he drank a bunch and was snoring terribly. Puppy woke me up at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30. At 3:30 I took her into the room he was in, and then she slept straight through until 6:30. Not cool, puppy. It's a good thing she's so goddamn cute and has that intoxicating puppy smell!

We crate train, and the very worst part of having a puppy is the whining and howling at night until they get used to it. Our pup is fine if the big dog is in the living room but she prefers to sleep next to the bed (because she has to guard me at all hours haha). It's annoying but so worth it when they start behaving!

Just got off the phone with my husband. He said we'll try to sell by the lot on a B/S/T and tell them won't separate and since we have 3 garbage bags full of clothes to sell for $30. Would you buy 3 full bags of infant girl clothes for $30? They do not have stains and they've all maybe been worn about a few times because babies grow through things so fast. Also, I'm getting my tubes tied after this baby so there are no more babies after my boy is born.

  • There's a girl who sits next to me in one of my grad school classes and she will not stop staring at my stomach during class. It makes me so uncomfortable! I wanna say,"Take a picture. It will last longer."

Well geez if you were, I'd probably just give them to you! Which also none of my friends and family are expecting or they all have boys, so yes I have also looked into that idea too.

I'm debating what we want to do. We'll probably give it some more time and see. Right now she's in a big cardboard box next to our bed (we'd have to go buy a crate). She can use a dog door, but we don't want her going out alone at this point since we have an unfenced pool, plus she can't get up and down the stairs by herself yet since she's so little. I don't think she needed to go out each of the times she woke up, so if we can get her to settle down and just go out once every few hours, we'll stick with the current setup. If not, a crate downstairs with us letting her out every couple of hours will probably be the answer.

We stick with the crate because I get VERY upset when I find something chewed up and she would outgrow boxes very quickly. If the crate is made into a positive place, training goes better so we gave the big one treats when she went in after being asked once and gave her bones and stuff to chew on while she was in there. We got lucky with two dogs who won't make a mess of the crate, but a lot of them don't care.  Lots of people who have success training without a crate, I just don't think I'm patient enough and I don't know any other way. Plus, we don't have a doggy door and the city I'm in is notorious for dogs being stolen right out of the back yard, so I still watch my 70-lb angel when she's out.

I really, really hate the puppy stage. They're so cute but I love being able to leave my big girl out for hours and hours and know nothing will be ruined or peed on when I get home. The worst she does is knock things off of tables with her tail, but that's an accident and one of many reasons we don't have carpet!

Also, I have totally bought garbage bags / totes full of clothes off the B/S/T sites for $30-$40.  Just list what's in it and the condition.  If you can take a few pictures and you are good to go!
  • I can't deal with being sick right now. I. Just. Can't. I've been in bed all day instead of doing laundry and cleaning my kitchen (which is a wreck from super bowl party food prep yesterday) and I want to die. I woke up several times last night about to vomit and ended up not. Today I have a sore throat, stuffy head and a headache. It shouldn't be a big deal to let this shit go for another day, but the baby shower is being hosted at my house on Saturday, and I'd planned on tackling a room at a time between now and then to deep clean before company comes over. Also, running out of clean underwear >.< I might go kidnap a sister and have her help me out tomorrow... They're homeschooled, so it's not like they do anything all day anyway.
  • @AEG84 Crate train!!! We did with our girl, she came home at 9 weeks old having free reign of the yard at the house she was born, best thing we ever did. Even new she lives her crate, it's her den. She no longer has to be shut in of course (hasn't since 8 months old, she's now 4), but it's her own place.

  • @AmadorRose @imrachellea I've crate trained dogs before, so that's not the issue. I suspect we'll end up getting a crate at some point. I'm really trying to see if we can get to March before we spend the money, and then see how she's doing. We can't use a crate during the day right now since she's so little, so it's just the nighttime part that we may need. Until she and the big dog are really comfortable around each other, they'll be separated during the day and she'll have the laundry room and a very small portion of the side yard. We were gone for about 4 hours yesterday and she did great. We're usually gone about 6 hours during the day (13 y/o leaves about 8:30 am and 16 y/o is home by 2:30 or 3), so we can't crate her during the day until she's a bit older. We should be able to manage the current daytime setup until I'm on leave, and then by the time I go back to work she'll be nearly 7 months old.
    image
  • My other BFM is that I work at a clinic and my OB doctor also comes here to see patients. I was referred out to a different clinic across town because this clinic does not handle maternal high risk. Last time, when I got to the point of seeing my OB every two weeks for non stress tests, I was able to do them here on site and go back to work without missing any hours. Apparently this caused a lot of confusion between both sites as it technically divides the patient care and it's too hard for them to talk to each other even though they are both linked in the EMR so the clinic I work at said they can't do it this time around. So now I have to continue to use up my accrued time off and flex my lunch hours.

WT-actual-F is wrong with you?? How rude of you to try and put of my training you til after lunch because it's "making you sleepy"! Fuck you. That's not my problem.

And NO, we aren't going to work on this more after lunch because I have shit to do.

  • My office has decided to create a pumping room, rather than give us locks on our office doors.. Wth! One way, I can continue to be productive.. The other way, I'm face booking for an hour a day.

Not to mention, there will be at least two of us pumping at the same time.. So I guess we work out a schedule for room use??
  • @elasticheart13 I would totally make something different for dinner, but i can be spiteful like that.  I would use the excuse of being too tired and make something with a lot of veggies.

  • @misstopsail do you have a laptop or something that can go with you in the pumping room?  From experience being on FB for an hour a day doesn't sound like much fun.
We have a pump room at work and it sucks having to share it and pump around someone else's schedule especially if they get hung up in a meeting and everyone else has to modify their schedules.

Where I used to work we had a lactation room. At the time I was there, there were 3 ladies pumping. They worked out a schedule among themselves for the room.

  • My BFM is that my belly and back are so tight. But I'm taking tomorrow off and going to the day spa and getting a prenatal massage! My other BFM is that no one takes days off here at my work. So they don't get me wanting to take a personal day. I have time to take off. I'm here all the time. Just let me enjoy my day without the side eye.
  • Mine goes out to toddler constipation.  For the second weekend in a row DD didn't poop Saturday or Sunday and has woken up at like  4/5 howling in pain.  The only thing that will comfort her is to be held.  This morning she woke up screaming 5 minutes before my alarm at 5:30 so I ended up running late for my flight this morning bc I was comforting her.  Oh and I also got flagged by TSA scanner for a boob pat down.  Awesome.  Glad this is my last trip for next 6 months.
