I just wanted to share my experience with the peanut ball (picture below) during labor. I first heard about it from my cousin who delivered a month before me. She said it really helped accelerate her labor after she was induced. So when I was being induced I asked the nurses about it and they told me they don't use it until you are fully effaced. Once I was dilated to a 6/7 we started using it. So you just lay on your side and stick it between your legs and it's suppose to help you dilate and help the baby engage(little man was still -1) Well within 15 min I had insane pressure and the need to push and was fully dilated. The nurses were concern because my doctor was on her way back from church that she wouldn't make it on time (she did)
So I highly recommend trying one if your hospital or birthing center has one. The nurses told me everyone who tried the ball had things accelerate pretty quickly.

yes! If your hospital doesn't provide one you can either side lie with knee in stirrup, or ask for several pillows to prop your leg up. Google peanut pillow for labor and you will see how far apart we like your knees to be, and the angle of your hips.
The ball is really nice for simplicity and for clean up, and is more comfortable to most than a stirrup. You don't need the fancy ball to accomplish this.
You can also buy your own and bring it from Amazon.
Good luck ladies, my clients almost always fall in love with peanut balls or birthing balls
