Hey all, first of all I want to apologize as I'm not a regular poster here, but I'm at a loss and would appreciate any input that anyone may have. I have a 12 week old who is EBF and about 1 week ago I went to the doctor with what I thought was a plugged duct that just wouldn't go away after about a week of trying all my usual tricks. Well after ruling out an abcess and cancer(super scary), I was diagnosed with a galactocele via ultrasound. Basically it is a cyst filled with milk. It has gotten worse and I went back to my doctor, they did some blood work which came back normal and I have another follow up this week. The problem is that it is red and painful and I have a lump abut the size of a kiwi and this seems like it's incredibly rare. My doctor and another in the practice that saw me have never had anyone with this and there's not really much information online. Sorry for the novel, but I'm basically looking for anyone else that may have had any first hand experience with this. Thanks!
Re: Galactocele
My mom had a similar situation which ended up being MRSA. Her doctor kept blowing her off and ultimately she had to have surgery to remove the abscess. NOT that is what you are experiencing ... But- if you are in pain and your doctor is blowing you off then I would go elsewhere.
