Baby Turner was born on the 2nd at 1:07am. He weighed 7lb9oz and was 20.5in. I was induced on the 1st at 10am, so it was a 15 hr labor. I was technically induced at 9 but it took them an hour and 6 tries to get an iv in. My veins suck. At 10 the pitocin started and I was 80% effaced and 1+ dilated. I got the epidural around 4pm (contractions were lasting 65 seconds with 50 seconds of rest). Once the epidural was placed my blood pressure dropped really low and I was given more iv fluid as well as meds to raise it. By 5pm I was still only 3.5cm. The epidural wore off completely on my left side during transition around 10pm. The anesthesiologist gave me another dose and At 11pm I started getting really nauseated and shaking. By midnight it was worse and the nurse came in to check me. I was fully dilated so she called the dr. She said we'd do 3 practice pushes before calling the dr back and after one push told me to stop pushing because baby was almost out! Dr got there in about ten minutes and as soon as he walked in I started throwing up. He said to go ahead and put my legs up since throwing up will essentially help push. 3 times throwing up and 1 push later, Turner was born! He was placed right on my chest and it was the most amazing feeling. Dr said it was the fastest delivery he's had in a very long time. We came home Wednesday and life is great. Our 5 year old is struggling but doing better than I expected.
