FFFC

Flame Free Friday Confessions (not always totally flame free)...

What've ya got???

Mine was from yesterday.  In the restroom at work, I had the absolute worst episode of pregnancy brain I've had possibly the whole time.  I finished my business, got up, and flushed.  Then I stared at the toilet, and flushed again.  Then I turned around, adjusted my shirt, and looked back at the toilet, and flushed a third time.  Because I honestly thought each time that I hadn't flushed it yet.

I can only imagine what my coworker in the stall next to me was thinking...

Re: FFFC

  • I have 2 that I need to confess.
I speak Spanish when DH and I need to talk while in public or when I need to get folks' attention. It may be rude, but it works. I would love to be bilingual.

I'm stressing about taking care of my newborn, active toddler son, and myself after DD arrives. DH gets 5 vacation days a year and used 2 last week trying to finish our house. His parents say they'll help, but I feel bad taking up MIL's vacation time when they're planning a summer vacation too. I'm not expecting much help from my parents (they came up for 3ish days with DS, got here hours late, and left half a day early). I don't know what I'm going to do, but I guess I'll figure it out somehow.

You take it one day at a time.  Lots and lots of movies during the first few weeks (and don't be hard on yourself if the tv is on all the time - the first few weeks/months are all about survival mode).  Put snack bags together now and put them where your toddler can reach them.  Activity bags are also awesome - so he can pull out a bag while you're sitting down for a nursing session - fill with dollar store toys, books, stickers.  Enlist your toddler to be your big helper.  As him to get a diaper for you when you need to change baby.  Wear baby around the house a lot.  Recovery after DS2 was so much better than DS1.  But definitely take it as easy as possible at first.
    DS1 - 9/21/11
    DS2 - 7/4/14
    DS3 - 2/21/16

Our family of 5 is complete!!  Love our boys!

  • My FIL wants to fly out as soon as the babies are born to see them in the hospital which is great. However, he is not the type of person that can just chill out and wants to do house project when he's here. I absolutely do not want to bring the babies home to a mess/renovations so I'm hoping I go into labor before my scheduled C and can convince H to keep it a secret until we are home.

I totally agree.  Your son is going to watch too much TV, spend too much time on the iPad and eat crappy food at first, but he will be fine!  We'll all be doing the same thing, so don't beat yourself up about it. It's temporary and won't effect him in the long-term, trust me this is #4 and #s 1 and 2 are smart well-adjusted kids.  Love on him as much as possible when you can, even though it's hard because you're going to want to snuggle your sleeping newborn, definitely make time for cuddles, or books or whatever it is he likes.  There will be times you just can't do both and he has to wait and that's fine and normal. It seems intimidating but you will find a rhythm sooner than you think!  And bonus if your toddler still naps!

  • My kiddo is stubbornly transverse despite all attempts to move him (we are not going the ECV route if it comes down to it for personal reasons), and I secretly don't want him to in hopes I get a scheduled induction/section. Its awful! I know! Even though I want a natural birth the idea of knowing when everything will happen (and the 2 extra weeks of STD pay) make me second guess myself... :-(

  • @klgiles12 don't feel guilty about your decision, you have to can a valid medical reason. If your LO decides to turn - great you can try for your natural birth. If your LO doesnt then you know exactly what will be happening and when. And in the end you get a squishy little baby!

I had an emergency section with my first and recovery wasn't too bad if you need to go that route. Take your pain meds on schedule in the beginning and stay hydrated and you'll do great!
