What's in your diaper bag?

LO is still getting over an infection so we haven't really been anywhere yet besides the pediatrician, but I've got the diaper bag packed for when she's ready for outings! I try to pack light so it doesn't weigh a ton. Here's what I have in mine:

1 change of clothes
hat
socks
burp cloth
receiving blanket
formula packets
bottle
5 diapers
sample pack of wipes
hand sanitizer
tissues
sample size diaper rash cream
pacifier

What's in your diaper bag? Any recommendations for must-haves?

Re: What's in your diaper bag?

  • I have all of that in mine plus a sleeper.  I carry 1 outfit and then a sleeper, just in case we may be out during the evening time or if he were to stay at my parents house, they have something for him to go to bed in.

  • After being peed on all over my pants yesterday at our first restaurant outing (through his diaper and PJs) I definitely recommend having a change of clothes for mama!

I also carry a small roll of diaper trash bags for the dirty ones.

5 diapers for each kid, wipes, change of clothes, pacifier, receiving blanket, burp cloth, sanitizer, a roll of tiny trash bags for dirty clothes, and butt cream. I keep yoga pants, t-shirt, bra, and undies in the trunk (for me) just in case.

  • All of that plus a book and teething toy. LO isn't interactive much yet but I like to be prepared and those 2 things really don't weigh much or take up much space.
  • To add to the list- water bottles, nursing pads, granola bars, and nursing cover
  • We pack pretty light as well, diapers and wipes, receiving blanket, Vaseline, two changes of clothes. For those with toddlers as well, do you combine your diaper bags or have two separate ones? We currently use two separate ones but wondering how well organization can work just combining them since we rarely use daughters (change of clothes, few diapers and water bottle).
  • A bottomless black hole.

I probably not, but pretty close. I've got my bag packed for a 13 month old, and the newborn.
    I've got:
Diapers for both (at least 4 each)
    Wipes
A change of clothes for each (including socks)
    Bottled water
    Divided formula dispenser
    2 bottles for baby
    1 sippy cup for toddler
    Snacks for toddler
    2 burp cloths
    2 bibs
    Changing pad
    Butt paste
    Toys for toddler
Plastic bags for dirty diapers/wet soiled clothes
    Hand sanitizer
Multiple pacifiers for baby (if you only bring one, you WILL drop it somewhere gross. Guaranteed)

@achae pack for both! It's bad enough that I have to carry both kids and one bag. The doctors forgot to install extra arms when I had the baby... darn them ;)

  • Two diapers and some wipes. #secondchildsyndrome
  • Our diaper bag contains:
     5 diapers
    travel pack of wipes
    vasoline
    hand sanitizer
2 onesies (one white, one printed)
    extra pair of pants
pair of socks (even though he hates to wear them)
    hat
    bib
    burp cloth
    receiving blanket
    nursing cover
diaper trash bags clipped to strap

I keep a full change of clothes for me in the car.

    1 diaper for ds1
    2 diapers for DS 2
    wipes
    sleeper/change of clothes for ds2
    extra pants for ds1
    bib for ds1
    muslin blanket
    vaseline
snacks and straw water bottle for ds1

ive gone a couple of places with just the baby so I had his stuff in a separate bag, but my intent is to have just 1 bag since the majority of the time we'll be going somewhere with both of them.

  • As pp said. Change of clothes for mum. Don't learn that the hard way!!
  • I have a gallon sized ziploc bag with my son's (22 months) stuff in it - a few diapers, and snacks.  I take it out when it is just me and the baby or it can get taken out and wipes added and pulled if hubby takes my son somewhere alone.  Also a bag to keep dirty clothes in.
  • I'd also recommend swapping LO's clothing regularly. I went about a week without using the diaper bag and next thing I knew DD didn't fit in newborn size anymore.
