High side pains....

So let me start with. I'm so tired of being so effing sick. I'm on disclegis. Yet I am still just miserable.

Last night I woke up with pain in my left side.. almost like where you get a stitch from running. Very weird, right? I couldn't sleep all night until morning of course. Today it's better just some twinges now and again. Well I was just horribly sick, lots and lots of puking and now it starting to bother me again.,I just want to sleep. Should I be worried? Should I message my dr? I don't want to over react and it doesn't seem to be in 'baby's area'. This is #2 baby btw and I'm 12 weeks as of today.

Re: High side pains....

  • Lurking
could you have pulled an intercostal muscle? Maybe gas pains? Can you call the nurse line tomorrow?

  • Oh I took gas meds just in case immediately. I know how gas can make you feel like death during pregnancy. And I thought pulled muscle but I can't imagine how I could've pulled it...plus it didn't feel like a pulled muscle really...it was throbbing radiating pain if that makes sense..... and im also not constipated as I know that's a very common, issue that causes all kinds of havoc... there is a nurses line and a patient portal they are very good about responding to....
  • You'd be surprised the amount of strain on your body if youre puking that much. A friend of mine cracked her rib when she was sick from coughing so hard. Stranger things have happened!!

Try calling the nurses line, in the very least they can put your mind at ease and may suggest taking a Tylenol or two to see if that helps.
  • Maybe you pulled a muscle from vomiting? I've done that before when I wasn't pregnant. After vomiting a lot I can have chest pains, throat pains, side pains and soreness on the left side where the stomach is. Sometimes my stomach will swell and I'll get really severe left rib pain. I don't know if any of that is what's happening to you, but it's just a thought.
  • Could possibly be RLP? I get pains in both my left and right groin areas all the time and it's not uterus pain. It feels different from cramps and sometimes it's a sharp pain. If this sounds familiar then I wouldn't be concerned

Already have three furbabies- Blake, Sydney, and Chester

  • It does sound like a pulled muscle, but it also could be from dehydration. Muscle spasms can worsen when you aren't getting enough water. I'm sorry you're still feeling so awful!!

  • Thank you all so much.. you know...I bet it was muscle spasms!!! I cannot drink water at all the last couple weeks so I've been drinking a lot of gatorade and juice which I know isn't great but I was getting dehydrated. So maybe it's a mixture! I'm going to try and up my fluids today and take it easy. I'm feeling okay right now (suprisingly!) I'm so ready for the second trimester!!! I didn't know you could pull a muscle from throwing up! Thank you for the suggestions, you all rock!

Oh and I get RLP lower than this issue :) I have tons of cramping this pregnancy which weirds me out since I didn't with my first lol

About a week ago I woke up to my entire stomach hurting SO bad I couldn't move. I had DH get me gas meds a water and eventually could move again but it scared me so much I thought I was going to go to the ER, which I've never done in my life. It hasn't happened since but I wonder if it's related!
  • Hope you feel better!! and Gatorade is perfect especially when you're dehydrated so don't worry about that or just mix some water into it 50/50.
