I have a negative blood type. We had the option to have DH tested (they would have done it at my midwifes office) or he could have brought in test results with his RH from a previous test he had done.
He found old test results and is RH positive. Had he been negative I wouldn't have had to get the rhogam injection, but obviously now I do. Then once the baby is born they'll test their blood to see if I need another injection after delivery.
I'm negative. They didn't test SO, they just gave me the rhogam shot once already at like 5 weeks since I had some bleeding and I will get another at my next apt (28 weeks) and depending on the baby's blood type you may get another one after delivery.
It looks like I'm negative too, but we'll be double checking that at my 28 weeks appointment (my mother swears I'm positive, but I can't find any documents proving it). If so, I'll be getting the shots at that appointment and after delivery.
im negative also.... DH got tested (because he didnt know his blood type) and he is positive.. going to for antibody screening in a few weeks and getting rhogam shot at my 28 week appt.
Lurking from June.. I am negative but the DR never gave me an option to get DH tested, she just said I would need the rhogam shot at about 28 weeks. DH does have positive blood though so I wish that would have been an option.
I am negative and DH is negative too, but my OB gives rhogam shots to anyone negative no matter what the father is. She says studies show that 10% of the time the father is different than the mother is claiming and she does not want to take chances. I am sure people could refuse but if the patient does not refuse, she always gives rhogam.
