  • @joyful08 True, companies should pay employees fair wage, but not everyone who relies on tips gets a paycheck. Most people in the beauty industry are independent contractors. I used to be a nail technician, and I couldn't have survived without tips. Especially now when the market is so competitive and you have to keep your service prices low or lose business. But I also don't believe in a 20% tip for everyone. I'll tip good if you did a good job, but if you suck, your tip is gunna suck. People try and make me feel guilty about that, especially since I've had a tip-dependent income before. But I always went above and beyond and EARNED my tip. So I guess that's my unpopular opinion for the day. Lol

@PeggyOlsonFTW My stepson agrees with you. He hates when my husband and I listen to our country music! Lol

  • @krzyriver I totally understand that. I have a small home business where I makes custom cakes and desserts. I do not charge prices that local bakeries charge because I want the business so I charge lower. I don't even make minimum wage per order for all the hours I spend working on it. So when I get a tip it's great! But I'm not gonna lie it's rare that I get a tip. People don't really think to tip. But tipping at a restaurant is "required".
So I guess basically I think it's unfair that people who are getting paychecks are the ones that the status quo says we need to tip, but then people like you said who are independent contractors or aren't getting a check regularly it's not standard to tip them.
I just feel that if you are working for a large company that is perfectly capable of paying their employees fairly it shouldn't be my job as the customer to pay your salary. Sorry I hope all that made sense lol

I hate that I look a lot younger than I am. I worry about looking "so young to be KU" when I am visibly pregnant. (One day I am sure I will appreciate the good genes!)

I think this qualifies as a FFFC brag.

I don't see that as bragging. Maybe FFFC, but it can also be a UO if stated, "I think looking young is not all it's cracked up to be because XYZ." I'm told quite often that I look a lot younger than I am and it can be a real PITA.

I'm right there with you. Everyone has always thought I've looked a lot younger than I am, which I enjoyed until I married a man 8 years older than me. I've been mistaken for his daughter more than once.  :#

Definitely not a brag, hence the "hate" part. It really is a PITA. @artcheeseIf you want me to reword it, I will...

I think looking young is not all it's cracked up to be because being called "little bit" at work on multiple occasions is demoralizing, being double carded at liquor stores is obnoxious, and being asked if the owner of your own house is home is infuriating.

Unpopular because some might enjoy looking young. Opinion because it is my view on the situation.

Looks like it might be a popular opinion.

But it yes I agree, being asked if the owner of the house is home when it's you is annoying. That's why I don't even bother opening the door unless it's the Girl Scouts.

  • I also suffer from "young face" and "nice face" . To the point where folks think they can take liberties with me or think that I'm ok with things that I am not. People get too friendly and assume that I'm gonna pull a ned flanders. Oh the surprises in store. My housemate in Paris used to say I need to perfect a better "bitch face" because otherwise folks get too friendly too quick. So, opinion-- I hate it that I have to worry about how stern my face looks in order to avoid people being intrusive. Like, can't I just do my thing and folks observe their own boundaries?

Its going to be fun when I go to the supermarket during the summer and I am huge with two small kids under age 5. I can't wear my wedding ring (fat fingers whomp whomp) so you should see the looks I get and/or the sniffs of disapproval. I ignore them. You never really know what's going on with anyone just by looking at them. To them I look like an unwed mother in my twenties about to pop another kid. They have no idea I'm 32 and a SAHM who's husband makes good money. In that snapshot in time-- I guess they assume I'm on assistance or something or don't know about birth control. It is what it is. The opinion part: I give no fucks. Judgmental people are a dime a dozen.

I know my mind and my worth. Haters gonna hate!!!

Meh. Freedom of speech. I'm an atheist and that doesn't really bother me. Everybody is free to believe what they choose, just don't insult or belittle me for my beliefs and I won't yours.

  • @smmatt08 I'm definitely worried about the same thing, and I get that it is definitely not a humble brag.  My problem is that I'm only 5 foot nothing.  Now at 28, I almost look my age when I'm dressed up or in work clothes.  But I love to dress causally as much as I can and it makes me look super young.

In my mid-twenties I was once in a liquor store and an older lady told me I looked 13.  Seriously?! Why would I be in a liquor store then?  That's not bragging, it's just embarrassing.  I used to put on nicer clothes to buy wine so I wouldn't get those awkward comments!

While I now appreciate looking younger than my age more than I used to, I totally worry about my preggo self in sweats and no makeup getting judgy looks. But who cares, I'm just glad to be KU!

Dang, I'm so out of it these days. I don't think I've seen out-right religious fervor? Where is this?

I'm a Christian, but I'm not a warrior for God theses days as much as I try to do what I think Jesus would want me to do on the daily. Most of that includes a shit-ton of compassion and far less judgment than I am prone to. I love my bible, but I don't like it when folks use it (or any religious or spiritual text) as a weapon. That's generally. I guess that's a sort of UO for my area of the US.

You saw that post too? Lol. I'm spiritual and I've said things like "I'm praying for you" before when I wasn't quite sure if the people I was talking to are even religious. But I agree, on a space like this, it's not really appropriate to be quote scripture and linking people to websites. And as someone who has had problems in the past, telling me to trust in the Lord is NOT comforting. It's actually very upsetting.

Gotcha. I thought you were just speaking in general terms. I'm not cool with that post, but I don't think it should be against TOU.

The direct tags and the user's history (yes I looked, it's that slow of a day at work) just rubbed me the wrong way.

  • I hate that I'm being judged by some of my friends for moving in with my boyfriend before marriage. *massive internal eyeroll* I can only imagine the earful I'm going to get when I tell them I'm pregnant. If I have to hear the comment "why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free" comment one more time, I'm going to lose it. Why do I have to live my life by your standards? Can I live?
I'm not sure I would keep those "friends" around. Like, generally I tend to agree with lifestyle choices for the most part with my friends. If I don't then I STFU as long as they aren't hurting anyone. I'm not sure why your friends feel the need to keep telling you. Maybe you just need to have a little chat and say that you hear them, but you are an adult capable of making your own decisions. If X Y or Z friend disagrees then they can voice their opinion once or maybe twice-- after that it becomes nagging and nagging is not a friendly thing to do.

Sorry you have to go through that from your friends. I might be doing the slow fade with friends like that though.

  • This is more of a WTF than a UO, but my dog rolled in possum poop and I lathered her like 5 times in the bath buuuuut she still kinds of smells bad.

I guess this is good motherhood prep?  ;)
  • @moquat I'm sorry but I just laughed so hard haha sounds like something my dog would do!

  • @LGW2015 you gotta laugh in these instances right? Poor dog was shaking and panting like "are we done with this bath yet?" And then followed me around with her big brown eyes looking at me saying "I'm sorry I'm a dummy and I rolled in poop, but pweeeeease forgive me I love you so much." It's a good thing she's cute.

Meanwhile it's 2:52 am and I just got up to pee and I felt my boobs trying to figure out if they are at least maintaining their gargantuan size (they were). 5w4d and no new symptoms for a while has me nervous. Lol I just mentioned two old ones though.
  • I think country music sucks. With the exception of Johnny Cash, of course.

I hate the new stuff.  I satilite in willows roadhouse and jam out to the oldies.  I love me some Cash, Twitty, Loretta and Hank.
