My Doctor's Bedside Manner Needs Work

I'm definitely thinking I need a new doctor. I come off a 12 hour shift and get a voicemail from my doctor from 10:30 this morning (no cell service in building and they don't have my work number):

"von1976, this is your doctor. You need to call me about your test results. The beta and progesterone are fine, but your thyroid is not."

-CLICK-

Um, what? Is it high or low? Huge difference between the two in terms of massive freak out, since I won't be able to return the call until around noon tomorrow.

Ugh.

Edited to add that I gave them permission to leave detailed voice messages on my cell phone number, so it's not like they couldn't have given me a little more information.

  • My doctor has always told me, "No news is good news". If I get a call, They don't have to tell me to call them back or why, I just know to do it because it means something isn't normal.

Your doctor seems rude. Leaving a bomb like that in a voicemail is not okay, especially for a pregnant woman! You don't need the added stress. A simple, "Give us a call to discuss your test results" would have even been better.
