I know you have heard some crazy things when it comes to pregnancy and babies...let's hear them!

I recently heard that if you want twins, you are supposed to eat a lot of yams.

Re: Crazy Old Wive's Tales

  • Haha i've never had a yam in my life and ended up pregnant with twins! Lol. I tried the string test last week and it said boy and then said girl without stopping... I thought it was kind of random, until we saw the ultrasound yesterday with two babies!

  • Haha my mom believes in the string test. Last pregnancy she did it and it was right, but I'm sure it was just luck.

Another one that was true last pregnancy was bad heartburn if the baby has a lot of hair, but I'm sure it would have been bad even if she had been bald.
  • I am hopeful that the string test is right because it says Im having a girl - and my household has too much testosterone in it already. :)

  • Last time I was pregnant my grandmother told me not to raise my hands over my head or the cord would get wrapped around the baby's neck.
  • @ginger819 I was told that same thing about heartburn during my last pregnancy because mine was so bad... DS was born with barely a hair on his head  ;)

  • @texasmama2014 i worked with someone when I was pregnant with DD who would NOT let me lift my hands over my head. She would literally stop me and do what I was doing for me. It got extremely annoying.

There actually has been some scientific evidence to back up the hair/heartburn one.

I know this is a common one but my H didn't know.

I pointed out how I was breaking out to H and I said we must be having a girl. When I told him it was because little girls steal their mamma's beauty and he was like "oh that can't be true". Lol At first he thought there was a legit reason.
