Since babe is cluster feeding lately and I can't put him down during the day without screaming, I decided that while he sleeps his last stretch of sleep in the morning I will take an hour before he wakes up to myself. The "sleep when the baby sleeps" rule was making me feel trapped, and taking time to myself is making me feel more energized than actually napping! I got to eat a whole breakfast, shower, and put on a bit of makeup and it's totally made me feel human and ready for a day of cluster feeding. So I'm winning today for taking back some "me" time!
I managed to shower while DH was at work today (usually I have to shower at night after LOs last feed)! I also did dishes and dinner is in the crock pot ready for when DH gets home. I am winning at being an adult human being today!
I too find showering especially in the morning really helps with my motivation. Today I did nap a little later in the morning and was actually awake when my husband got my daughter ready for school.
DS woke up at midnight for his first nightly feeding and DH just got up, scooped him up from the bassinet and took him to the kitchen to get his bottle ready. Usually we both wake to the baby crying or fussing and one of us says; "You or me?" lol I barely had a chance to open my eyes before he got out of bed and just took him. We take turns once a night and usually I get the first feeding and he gets the later feeding because he goes to bed a little later than I do.
I went to bed at 8 last night and while I didn't fall asleep till close to 9, it was great to have gotten 6 full hours of sleep before DS woke again at 3. He occupied himself in his bassinet with baby babble until 4:20, so I was able to just lay in bed and fall in and out of sleep until then. Today is the first day I truly feel rested in well over a week.
We had beautiful weather today! 15c and sunny! For Canada in February thats unheard of. I went to my mom and dads and we took DD for a nice walk! I also noticed a scale in their bathroom and after gaining 50 lbs during oregnancy I'm only 10 lbs out from pre preggo weight! Winning! Now if we can skip witching hour tonight and little one will go to bed by 9 that would be awesome!
It's my birthday! SO spent the day with a lawyer and found out that we are about to get full custody of his daughter! We've been together over 3 years, fighting for this sweet girl and her safety and well-being. So happy that we are finally able to do what is necessary for her. He also took me out to a fantastic dinner, no kiddos. I got to get all gussied up and I felt so good about myself we took this just after we got home. We took the exact same picture last year with our 7 week old son (he was already in bed, otherwise he would have been in the picture too)
The weaning process has begun! Twice this week I have been able to put DD down for a nap without a bottle AND she stayed in her bed the entire time! She turns 2 on the 13th and ever since bringing DS home she wont sleep in her bed but instead makes herself a little nest in front of her door. Sooooo happy!
