Don't know how to fix

So I'm at the end of my first trimester and everytime I eat or drink something it seems like either my body or baby just doesn't want it so I end up with liquid diaherra and I don't know what to do...I'm continuing to drink plenty of water along with Gatorade and orange juice as well as having smaller meals but nothing seems to be helping.

Re: Don't know how to fix

  • I've read when it's like that you need to eat very bland foods. Dry toast, crackers, ECT. Avoid greasy, fried foods, and I think your supposed to up your a salt intake a bit? It could also be a stomach bug of some sorts. Hope you feel better soon, stay hydrated!

  • The BRAT diet is what I was told to follow when that happened to me. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast.
  • Before you attempt to change what you eat or any dieting, consult your OB. It may be something completely unrelated to what you're eating.

I'm sure you know this already.

  • Aside from this potentially being a stomach bug...  are you getting enough fiber? We all think of fiber when it comes to constipation, but fiber can help with diarrhea too as it absorbs excess liquid in the bowel and firm up loose stools. (apples, raspberries, beans and lentils, pears, broccoli, avocado, figs, prunes and fiber enriched foods are all good options). Also, make sure to add a probiotic daily, like Pearl which will help repopulate your gut with healthy bacteria.

  • I have been having this same issue right now! I too am almost at the end of tri 1. Nothing seems to help mine...I eat very healthy and don't get why this is happening all of a sudden. Hormones?
  • I thought hormones at first but the last time this happened to me I had been dehydrated even though I was drinking tons of water and I had been throwing up all night which landed me in the ER...there they said my white count was slightly elevated so it's possible I could have a tiny bug
  • @kbergmann23, I was going to mention that diarrhea in pregnancy is more than likely from infection, since progesterone is constipating. Hopefully it passes soon!
  • Ditto the recommendation on fiber and probiotics. Are you taking oral magnesium?  That can cause diarrhea too if you take too much.
