Walkers and Jumparoos?

Are you ladies using these for your LOs? I received them as gifts from my shower, but am a little concerned after reading about the safety and development delays they can cause. They seemed pretty harmless (if not using excessively), but a part of me is just thinking I should return them and be done with it!

What are your thoughts?

we use a jumper for our little guy. he loves it! I think it has made him a lot stronger, too. he sits up unassisted now (he turned 6 months on Saturday) & I think that has a lot to do with his core strength from jumping. he has also been doing great with bearing weight for at least a month. he is almost on all fours, too. our little guy doesn't seem to have any issues.

good luck with deciding! I'm sure you'll make the right decision, momma :)

  • I have never heard of anyone experiencing developmental issues from these.  We used (and are using) the jumpero with DS and he has done fantastic hitting every milestone, many early.  DD loves it and is right on track too.
  • We use the exersaucer for our son.  I too read about developmental issues from using walkers but my pediatrician suggested the exersaucer so that's what we got.  Funny though, all three of my nieces, myself and my siblings grew up just fine and we were ALL placed in the infant walkers.  Oh well, I know times change and therefore advice changes as well.
  • *developmental and safety issues
  • I really can't keep up with the back and forth on these recommendations! Just have to follow my intuition.
I was surprised to see some of the safety concerns with the walkers though, so I guess the Exersaucer is a good option!
  • What are some of the risks with the walkers and jumpers?

  • DD has a jolly jumper and a walker uses both and loves it. Great way for them to be entertained
  • We just bought my daughter the Jumperoo and oh my gosh she lovessss it ! :)
  • @gadawgmom this is one of the articles I found:

Not trying to overthink it though.
  • My daughter loves her jolly jumper & We've noticed strength in her legs since she's been using it.
  • We have put our daughter in hers since she was 3 months(this picture is when she was 3 months) and she can hold on to things and stand on her own now and she tries to walk, I think it helped her if anything. (5 months 3 weeks)
  • We use both of these while not for hours at a time but LO loves the jumper and walking around the house in the car. I personally think it is fine. My son has not had any developmental issues and has been in the jumper since 3 months  (in the jumper pic, he was about 3.5 months old and 5 months in the walker)

May I ask what jumper that is? It is much different than the one I received! Looks cool.
  • It's a kangaroo jumper that goes in your doorway :) we can't use it now cause she walks and slings shots herself back lol
