Re: GTKY: Superbowl Party Yummies

  • I have my GD test the next morning, so looking like it will be salad for me :(

  • Glad you posted this, I almost forgot to add this stuff on my grocery list! I'll either make a Mexican layer dip or brown sugar bacon wrapped little smokies. My husband says I should do both but I'm thinking that with my appetite right now, that would be a bad and unhealthy idea!
  • We go to my in laws' house with family and everyone brings something a little different. I always end up making deviled eggs no matter how long I look online.

  • @yogahh Nooooooooooooo! That's the WORST.
  • This is a really important question. I'm a dip girl, and this week I'm feeling some jalepeno popper dip. I'll sit back and see if anything better rolls through this thread before I commit.
  • I like making this apple dip. Mix brown sugar and cream cheese, spread on a plate. Pour caramel apple dip over it, then sprinkle crushed up Butterfinger or Heath bar on top. Serve with apples. I think I feel healthy eating the apples. haha It's so yummy!
  • We don't have super bowl plans yet, but we'll probably watch it at a friend's house.  Our house is a disaster right now with us working on the nursery, so no house guests until that's done!  My go-to recipe for any type of house party is my 7-layer nacho dip.  I think I've shared the recipe on one of these boards before, but it's super easy:
    • Brown ground beef and season with taco seasoning.
    • Heat 1 can of refried beans (I like to use the spicy kind) in the microwave or stove top.
    • Mix 1 package of softened cream cheese and 1 small container of sour cream with mixer in medium bowl.
    • On a large serving platter, spread (in separate layers) the refried beans, then the ground beef, then the cream cheese/sour cream mixture, then a layer of salsa.
    • Layer on about 1/2 bag of shredded lettuce, then a layer of about 1/2 small package of shredded cheese.
    • Finally, layer with sliced black or green olives (or jalapenos).
    • Serve with tortilla chips. The Tostitos Scoops seem to work well.
  • GIVE ME ALL THE FOOTBALL FOODS!!!!!! We're going to my FIL and his girlfriends house instead of my sisters house (UGHHHHHHHHHHH) so I have no idea what they're planning on making and it makes me sad. I want little wieners, meatballs, every kind of dip possible, BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp, wings, just gimme all of it! They want us to bring a veggie tray :|

  • We always make crab stuffed mushrooms, spicy spinach artichoke dip and bang bang shrimp. The party we usually go to is an all appetizer party so everyone brings two or three things - I cannot wait!

  • I making my cream cheese and chili dip it's a 5 layer dip and is delicious! I've been craving it for a couple weeks and I finally have an excuse to make it :) also homemade BBQ weenies and a cheeseball with crackers
  • I'll be home alone having a superbowl/pity party for one because my H is leaving on Saturday for a work trip. You guys have inspired me to make myself some fun dips even if I don't even watch the game. I'll probably make a 7 layer dip & spinach artichoke dip.
  • My "Superbowl party" will consist of DH watching the game, and me using it as an excuse to eat copious amounts of junk! I'm thinking chips and salsa, and maybe a pizza and wings!

    Recipe?!
  • We go to the in-laws and do a birthday celebration for FIL and DH that day, so there is always a ton of food. Everyone brings something. DH has asked me to make chili & deviled eggs. There will also be fruit bowls, wings, cheese and crackers, guacamole, potato wedges, myriad chips and dip, cake, cookies, and an ice cream cake.

Sadly, I also failed my most recent one hour glucose test and have a three hour Wednesday. I'm not too surprised, even though I passed the initial one hour in November, because I also had GD with my first pregnancy. It's just a little disappointing given the food bonanza! Still, my doctor is great and has already said that holidays, weddings etc are typically an exception day, but I'm going to try and restrain myself should I fail the three hour on Wednesday.

  • We are hosting and we are doing steak fajitas with all the works, taco dip, guac, etc. and a brownie ice cream sundae bar at halftime !
  • I will be at work. We are going to do a sandwich pot luck with a honey baked ham as the main staple. Everyone is going to bring a side and their favorite sandwich topping. I have no clue what I will actually bring yet though!
  • I'm working :-1: seriously, who is looking at model homes on that day?! I will end up preparing something easy the evening before and hopefully hubby doesn't forget to put stuff in the oven. Only task besides stocking up on beer for him! Thinking about bacon wrapped jalapeños, crab dip, wings etc. something easy and quick
  • We are going over to my grandma's (along with the rest of my family) to root on our Broncos! Goooooo Broncos!

We will have so much food but I am most lookin forward to wings, buffalo chicken dip, fried gizzard (probably gross to most but they are a must in my family), and quesadillas (which I'm 99.9% sure I just spelled wrong).
  • GUAC, spinach and artichoke dip, wings, and pizza.

No one ever really wants a "lil" weiner do they? Sorry, I am bored and it was just sitting there for the taking!

Bwahaha, glad someone said it..... :)

I also have my glucose test so no junk for me :( I may try making a healthy wing recipe, we loooooove wings.....
  • Sweet and sour meatballs in the crock pot... serve with sweet Hawaiian rolls. Yum.

    *Frozen meatballs
    *Ketchup
    *grape jelly

Throw all together in crock pot until meatballs are covered.. cook on low 6 hrs.

  • I'm going to eat a helluva lot of sausage lovers dip. My grandma gave me this recipe and it's just about the fattiest dip ever, so I only make it once a year or so. Tastes like sausage heaven. I don't remember all the ingredients but the main ones are crumbled spicy breakfast sausage, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Rotel, spinach, and sour cream. You melt it all in a skillet. CAN'T WAIT.

  • I want everything!! But since literally making everything is impossible I have to have taco dip and potato skins...  Chicken salsa pizza sounds good but I don't think I can con anyone to drive and get that during the Super Bowl (the restaurant that sells it is over a half hour away and they don't open until after the game starts)
  • I'm planning on Chicken Wings (buffalo and possibly teriyaki), Mozzarella sticks, chips & Salsa with possibly some queso. Probably banana cupcakes or oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. That should be enough, right?
