That's how my Lo started. She just rolled to her right side and stopped. After a couple days she rolled all the way over onto her tummy and from there she learned to roll to her back. She still prefers to roll from her right but can do it with her left also.
My LO has just recently found the other direction. She will be 5 months on the 8th. She would only roll one way from tummy to back, but has started rolling the other way once or twice.
She also has only rolled from back to tummy once, and it was overnight so we didn't even get to see it When we "work" with her at play time, she used to only roll onto one side from her back, but now she rolls back and forth. I think she thinks that part is fun...lol
@CEW225 My LO likes to roll over when we aren't watching. I missed her first roll also, she was in the room for a nap and I look back and she rolled to her side, which she does frequently when she sleeps, so I continue cleaning and I look in again and she's on her tummy reaching for a toy! I was so bummed Missed her roll from tummy to back also, and she usually only rolls when she's "alone". I'm actually watching but not on the floor with her or talking to her, and she's just having a good ol' time by herself.
@caityrose you can help facilitate a full roll by putting a toy she likes slightly out of reach on the floor next to her. She should try to roll over and reach it, it may take a couple tries but it can help her learn to roll all the way over.
@AmandaNacora It's like they know. I'm trying to get mine rolling from her back to tummy on video and every time I pull out my cell phone to record, she flops back over on her back and is like, "Meh, I think I'm doing trying for the day." Great...thanks...lol
This little guy has been rolling tummy to back since day 4. He kinda just tips over like a cow, so funny because he always seems surprised. Rolled a few times from back to belly but never when I'm encouraging him. Always when I'm distracted and not paying attention! DS1 didn't roll back to tummy until he was 8 months! I worked with him every day and he wasn't having it. When he finally did he would only do it in his crib when we weren't in his room. We would see it on the monitor. We used to say he only rolled privately. Haha! These kiddos are monkeys.
Anyone else have a LO who rolls onto their tummy and then screams and cries immediately? Mine cant figure out how to roll to back yet and gets so mad and loud everytime. Its been a week straight of screaming, then i roll him to his back and he goes right back into it. Frustrating (maybe for us both)!
My baby doesnt roll. She will be 5 months on the 13th. If we help her she will. I am not worried though..she has always been so ahead with everything else I will just be patient with this x
My LO rolled for the first time (belly to back) abou 30 minutes ago haha. 5 times in a row (I kept rolling her on to her tummy!). Rolled to the right, curious when she will roll the other way!
My lo must be really lazy!! I try putting her favorite toys out of reach but it doesn't encourage her to roll! She just reaches with the one arm for it lol. She rolls over on the bed but because it's soft and I'm laying on it. She doesn't do anything when I lay her on the ground! Not even lifting her legs up to start a roll! I want her to perfect rolling onto her belly so she can sleep on her belly already.
@CEW225 I swear they know! Whenever she's doing anything cute and I pull out my phone she immediately stops, cute pictures are so hard to get
I have to say after she figured it out, she rolled for a couple days and now nothing, like she's just over it.. Her goal now is to figure out crawling and to move forward. She gets her butt up but those pesky arms, she has no idea what to do with them so she gets mad because she's not going forward and cries...
