What are your thoughts/experiences with taking Zofran for morning sickness? I had zero nausea with my first LO and Ive been crazy nauseas for weeks now with this pregnancy. I took a Zofran pill that was prescribed to my son when he was having a stomach issue a couple of months ago and POOF the nausea was gone. I called my OB to ask if a nurse could call me back because I had some questions about it and they called back and said a prescription was sent to my pharmacy

But now Im worried to take more because of all the case studies that say it could lead to increase birth defects (heart defects and cleft palate) but nothing super concrete about "No don't take it!" or "yes, its totally fine" Help please...

In saying this though, there are a lot of meds that docs have used for many years that we are finding out may not be as safe as once thought (zofran, Tylenol) but the data is definitely not conclusive yet so taking it may be ok if nothing else works.

I was given Zofran despite my protests and took it for a week and a half. The "advice nurse" at my dr's office said all the case studies and law suits were really not all they were cracked up to be and it was a bunch of "ambulance chasing" lawyers trying to get some $$. Well, the Zofran almost made the MS worse. So I called the dr and asked for something else. They called in the Pnegran which has been awesome, but I will agree with a PP that stuff is no joke depending on the dosage. it will flat knock you out. I took a whole dose as directed on the bottle and It was around dinner time. I was barely able to get out of the bed for the night and I knew it was from the meds. We thankfully had my apt with dr. later that week? and he gave me some samples of Dicglesis but I've been afraid to swap it out yet because it appears the Dicglesis has to "build up" in your system. You start with one pill and if its not enough, you take 2 at the next dosing which is like 24 hours later or something. And, I'm afraid it too will make me pass out. So we are going to try that one this weekend when I'm home.
Good Luck!
