Pain in "LadyTown"

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had this issue before.

My entire lady area is swollen, tender, sore, and it just plain hurts. I know this doesn't help explain it to FTMs, but it feels like it does after delivery, but I'm still pregnant. I know there's added pressure down there and that's likely the cause, but again, I never experienced this with the other two pregnancies I had.

Its so so sore and achy conatantly. It's not a come and go kind of pain, it's consistent.

Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions for relief?

Re: Pain in "LadyTown"

  • Third pregnancy too and I just started getting pretty sore a few days ago (due Friday). It doesn't seem any worse than my other pregnancies though.

  • I'm pretty sore but not swollen :-/ hopefully it's nothing too serious!

  • I have slight pain that come and goes, certainly nothing that is comparable to after delivery. Have you had an internal exam recently? I would wonder if baby is just super low. Are you still having sex, could that be adding to the discomfort? Put a call in to your Dr office just for some peace of mind. The only thing I would suggest (again, I'm not having that kind of discomfort) sitting on a donut shaped pillow, exercise ball, or a warm bath. Not much longer to go, hang in there!!
  • This has been me for most of the second half of this pregnancy.  And yes, it has felt like I just gave birth a day or two ago (but I have been feeling it for almost 20 weeks!!).  It is worse at night.  Turning over in bed is awful; I have debated breaking out some ice packs for the lady parts while in bed!  I just keep telling myself that at least after he arrives I will only have a few days to a week more of this discomfort and then it will finally end!  I had none of this discomfort with DD.  I think that the way this little man has been sitting this whole pregnancy had put very different pressure on the nerves and vessels in that region.  I hope that you can find relief.  Unfortunately, as I said, I don't think that my relief will come until after delivery. :(
  • I've been having the same thing and I mentioned it to my doctor and she said its normal and wasn't concerned. But I would mention it to you own doctor just to be on the safe side.
  • Yep, joining the group on this one.  I feel like I had the roughest, best sex night last night without actually doing anything.  It feels like the lips are barely holding a bowling ball in there.  I've spoken to the dr, since I've had it for a few weeks now, and he said it's just the way the LO is sitting.  Definitely didn't have this last time.  The discomfort is one of the main reasons I can't wait to give birth because the pain is just excruciating.  It's definitely worse in the morning or after I sit for a longer period of time.  We'll get through this soon ladies!

  • I think it's the pressure from the baby down there. I had it for a bit til the baby resituated and now it's better.

  • I'm sore too and don't remember this with my first. There's SO much pressure there and in my bum, too.

  • I've been experiencing pressure, too, but it's not that bad. The sharp pains in my cervix are what kill me!  :(

  • same issues here... I'm sure it's pressure from the baby at this point.  also... you could have enlarged varicose veins... my doctor says they are a non-issue and will go away after labor.
  • Maybe one of those post birth pillows would help, the ring ones so youre not putting pressure on that area
  • You are not alone! I have been feeling like someone took a hammer to my public bone. I've read it has to do with pressure from baby and the hormone relaxin starting to let that area loosen for baby's arrival. I also deal with that horrid sharp pain in my cervix? Like a pinch or something dreadful lol I have a great pain tolerance and that one will stop me in my tracks!! And as far as I know the swollen labia/vaginal area is baby has moved down and increased blood flow to the area for the cervix to become favorable can cause swelling! I did not experience this with my first but oh the joy this time around!! Good news is things go back to normal and these aches are your bodies way of preparing to bring your sweet baby to your arms!! So close ladies!
  • My doctor was a bit over aggressive with the cervix check today and it's now been 5.5 hours. I'm still hurting.

  • @DrillSergeantCat ugh, sometimes I wonder how much it's worth the pain :/

op- I was having some random groin pain with the way his head has been rolling on my nerves. Dr said Tylenol was best and it seems to help.
  • Thanks ladies. If nothing else, it's nice to know I'm not alone in my suffering. Lol sorry. I tried a heating pad (on low) directly on the 'area' and it REALLY helped. I felt so much better afterward.

I just keep telling myself, "Hang in there, girl. You're in the home stretch!"

It doesn't really comfort me, lol but I try to stay positive. :)
  • Yep pressure and pain downstairs for weeks now...rocking the waddle like no one else.  I'm also swollen and have been for weeks now...definitely not the beautiful amazing experience I thought pregnancy would be but as others have said, not long to go now!
  • @srecupido She was apparently trying to sweep my membranes but had to try to force her finger through first and I'm only dilated a fingertip. I cramped and spotted all night, but took some Tylenol and felt better.

  • @DrillSergeantCat oh man, well I guess that's better than just trying to check the crystal ball that means nothing :)
