Diaper changes?

My son has a screaming fit every diaper change. You would think I am stabbing him. Seeing that he gets changed every few hours (if not more often) it's pretty disturbing. Especially at night.

Is anyone else having similar issues? Any words of wisdom? FWIW, DS will be 4 weeks tomorrow.

Mine fusses and cries everytime too. She doesnt like getting indressed I guess? Maybe its chilly for them? No idea but you arent alone!

Is the surface that you are changing him on cold? Our Pack n Play in the bedroom has a plastic type changing surface which is cold so my dd hates it if I don't have a little pad on it. She still doesn't like it, but at least she doesn't scream and cry as hard.

Ours screams too, I think it's the cold air because as soon as he's zippered back up and swaddled he just looks around and dozes off. Yay winter?

Same here. It's a rare occasion if my girl doesn't fuss or cry while changing. I second having a pad or something that's a bit warmer over the top of the changing pad if you're using one, I found that helps a bit. Also warm wipes help too. But all in all, she still cries, just not as bad as before having the cloth down. It'll get better with time.

Thanks everyone. We do have a pad on the changing table so he won't feel the cold plastic. I agree that helped a little bit but only at the beginning of the process. We do have a wipes warmer but I honestly haven't been using it too often. I can give that a go.

Just hearing that many of you have the same issue is very helpful. I didn't know if it was a me thing vs a newborn thing. I hope he can outgrow it soon

You can hear her screaming from outside the house... SO came home from work and asked what she was screaming about... I told him that I was chopping her toes off one by one. She's quite the dramatic little thing.

My little one fusses at every change too. I do have a receiving blanket in the changer of the pack and play and that helps. Honestly I wouldn't use the wipe warmer. They will get used to the wipes being warm and the it will be meltdown central every time you aren't home. The screaming at every changing will go away eventually my 2 year old outgrew it after about 2 months. Hang in there

Mine does too! She conveniently pooped 3 separate times within a one hour span. I went through 6 diapers last night/ first thing this morning.

We put a waterproof cloth pad over the plastic and a receiving blanket folded under his head. Yes, it's one of the few times she cries and it's insane. I've started putting the wipes in my bra to warm them when I change her- maybe try that if you don't want to mess with the warmer?

Is LO dressed in a zip up or a snap at the crotch? I've had much more success with my DS when all I have to do is unsnap at the crotch rather than expose his chest to the cold. You're definitely not alone though!
