Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Catnapping... please help.

My DD has been a great sleeper for the most part since about 1 week of age. She has 2-3 good naps a day anywhere from 2.5-4 hours each.
And then would wake once during the night for a feed at 1.30am then sleep through to 6-7am

Over the past 3 days she has been catnapping lasting 1 hour max 3- 5 times a day. and then will sleep from 8.45pm-6am with no wakings. Our routine hasn't changed so what am I doing wrong?

Re: Catnapping... please help.

  • She is 8.5 weeks of age now

  • Babies start having more daytime awake time as they get older. It's normal. My DD is 8 weeks and her naps used to be 3-4 hours long and now it's a struggle to get her to sleep for an hour at a time during the day so she naps more.
  • Sounds pretty normal they do start being more awake at that age.
  • OP don't take offense to this but you do realize babies change...right?

Your LO is barely 2 months old. She is going to change, all the time, regardless of what you do or don't do.

Cat naps are very, very common and you are lucky to even be getting an hour. Most only last 30 minutes.

My biggest piece of advice for you is to learn to roll with the changes and try not to overthink it.
