Baby rolled off the couch!

Baby girl was home with hubby. As soon as I walk in the door, I hear DH yelling for me downstairs.  fly down the steps and LO was laughing and seemed fine, but my poor DH was on the verge of tears. He said "she just rolled right off! I turned my head for one second..." I didn't get upset with him, he felt bad enough and DD seemed totally fine, but deep down i was thinking "omg, omg, omg... what if she hit her head..." I called the doc and they said as long as she is not lethargic and vomiting, not to worry. Apparently this happens pretty often. I was kind of happy for her because she rolled from her back, which is a huge milestone, but she did it onto the floor. Her middle name is Grace, but i think she will be as clumsy as her papa..

  • Glad she's okay, and I'm totally paranoid the same thing is going to happen to us! Also, yay for milestones!

  • That happened to me a few weeks ago! Luckily we have soft carpet and our couches are super low. LO didn't cry. She was fine. But I know what you mean - I was literally sitting right next to her WATCHING HER!! It takes LESS THAN A SECOND! Be careful mommas!
  • It was a hard floor, but low couch at least.
  • This morning i sat my daughter (4.5 months old) on the couch inbetween 2 cushions until i went to lift toys out her toybox beside the couch..i heard a moan and looked over to see her on her tummy with her legs dangling off and balancing on her tummy to keep herself on it.I had a mini heart attack because one jolt the wrong way and she would have been on the floor with a thud. So scary!
Need to learn not to leave her there anymore!
Sorry to hear ur babies actually fell :(
  • This happened to my oldest when she was a few months old. From a higher up bed, right onto her face on a hardwood floor. I was so mad at my husband! I was screaming and crying at him. The best thing you did was not go off on him. I obviously didn't know any better lol. But she was fine!
  • I'm glad LO is ok, but I have to chuckle because the same thing happened to me with DS when he was about this age. He hadn't started rolling yet, was trying but hadn't made it.  I laid him on our ottoman and looked away for a split second and off he went. Right onto the floor. I called our pedi crying and blubbering. He laughed, assured me that it happens much more than I probably realized, and told me what to watch for in case of injury. Now, with DD, I never put her anywhere but on the floor from the moment she was brought home unless I'm right there with her.  It's all a learning curve! Glad you were able to stay calm!
