Pregnancy rashes??

Okay, I've been getting these ugly little red bumps on random parts of my body I read that some pregnant women do get them but I haven't seen anything on how to get rid of them.. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Pregnancy rashes??

  • Yikes...I forgot what it's called but I had a rash with DD that ITCHED. OMG it was so bad. I ended up in the ER bc I thought it was an allergic reaction. It's some kind of pg hormone thing. Most times than not they say it's only cured by birth. I took 2-3 oatmeal baths a day and if it was really bad at night to where I couldn't sleep I'd take Benedryl. That's just my experience. Try Benedryl to see if it clears up. If you have any other symptoms with it though call your doc asap.

  • I think you're referring to PUPPPS which doesn't resolve until after baby is born. If you've got a rash, I'd call your Dr or MW and let them help you with a diagnosis and treatment.

I had Puppp with DS. If it's that, it'll start out as little red bumps, then they blister and form thicj, itchy patches. It's the devil and usually won't go away until labor starts. Mine started to significantly improve after a few bouts of "false labor" between 37 and 38w, but it took about a month after that until my skin was fully healed.
Pine tar soap, cool showers, and cere ve cream help a good bit.
ETA: typical spread of puppp is that it starts on the stomach/in the stretch marks and then spreads from there. I had it on my stomach, legs, arms, back and hands before it halted. There are other pregnancy rashes too that are itchy, but less painful. Definitely ask your OB/MW or a dermatologist.

This, I was miserable a few weeks ago but my OB said because it wasn't on my stomach that it wasn't PUPPP. It ended up being a really bad allergic reaction, so try Benadryl/Claratin first to see if you get any relief. Feel better!
  • Oh!! I don't have any on my stomach.. They're on the inside of my thighs, like where my panty line is and around that area, on my butt, my neck and the back of my knees where it bends, they don't itch but I also have eczema and it will form under them..its starting to worry me so I will def call my dr
  • Definitely ask your doctor, but that almost sounds like heat rash or a more severe form of eczema based on where it is. (I have eczema too...it's been bad between my fingers this pregnancy.) I hope you can get some answers and treatment!
  • Thank you!!!
  • Oi, I have two rashes on my hand. They don't itch, but they'll burn at times when I run water and so forth. It got all flaky and stuff.
  • I have had hives for almost 6 weeks. I keep being told that it's due to hormones and stress. I am on 2 steroid creams and take zyrtec and pepcid twice a day. Definitely call your doc. I hope you get some relief!
  • I hope they go away soon! Thank you!
  • My coworkers are advising me to call the doctor ASAP because I have a rash, almost a bruise on my hand (where the thumb is) and the hand appears a bit swollen. I thought these things were common in pregnancy, but I guess not!
