California moms filing for temp disability

Sorry to make such a specific thread, but if anyone could help me out, info wise, that would be amazing.  I filed my temp disability claim today, under my dr's advisement.  When I filled out my claim online I only put my most recent employer, because it said they needed at least one.  However, I realized belatedly that I only worked for that employer for four months!  I should have probably put my employers before that as well.  Do you think this will impact my claim amount, and should I contact them tomorrow to see about editing my work history?  (There's no option to do this online.)  Or is the temp disability claim amount just a standard $ amount and it wouldn't matter?  OR would they be able to look up my work history under my social security number?

I would call them to clarify, but they're closed for Martin Luther King day and I'm just sitting here totally stressed out that I messed up my claim.  :(   Any insight would be much appreciated!

  • Update - I found a way to email SDI my question, and I think I figured it out anyway (I think there is an opportunity to fill in all your work history later, once your dr fills out his/her part of the process and the claim moves forward.)  Anyway, I'll figure it out.

Sorry again about the super specific post!  I'm stressing out over everything in these last couple weeks!

  • No idea! Are you currently employed? I think you just want to show your last year's income so you get tcredit for whatever the highest income you have was.
  • I think they go back a ways to look at your income to determine what you will get paid, so they'll probably need your last job!
  • Does anyone know if you need to be making nothing to qualify for SDI or PFL? My job will pay 55% wages for 3 weeks but I'm wondering if I need to collect my full state benefits first, then get the income from my job? I also have 3 weeks PTO coming to me. I know SDI is to replace "lost wages" so I'm just confused and I can't get through to the phone line to ask questions. It keeps telling me that 'the maximum number of callers on hold has been reached" and to call back.

  • @claireloSC I keep having the same issue trying to call!!!
But as far as I understand you cannot receive any money from your employer to be able to collect from the state.... I had to go on a temp medical leave a few years ago and I filed but did not receive benefits bc work forced me to cash out my PTO for the leave.
  • @stepheppie thanks for sharing your experience! It's so frustrating not to be able to get through!

  • @claireloSC PFL is 2 weeks at 100% pay and can be taken at the beginning or end of your disability by my understanding.

@mamabeagle CA PFL is 6 weeks at 55% pay. You're eligible as soon as you've used all your CA SDI.

  • I was on PDL for several weeks on bed rest and receiving money from my work at 45% and the other 55% from SDI but that is because I get money taken out every check and put into a disability bank at work. I think it depends how large the company is if they pay or not. there was a place on one of the online forms to click if you were receiving any kind of pay from your employer and how much. When I talked to my HR they said it was totally okay to receive both as long as it doesn't exceed 100% of your normal pay. Hope that helps, but yes this stuff is so confusing!!
  • Thanks @lolobellrn!
