Re: TW Tuesday

  • Dog is still sick, was hoping it was a one day thing related to her shots but now it's looking like a call to the vet and a chicken and rice kind of diet today. Poor sick pup

I didn't have my phone over the weekend so and since I'm still upset about this-
TW Tuesday goes to my dad:
Sunday 1/31 was my dad's birthday.. I packed up the baby and myself and went to their house for dinner even though the baby was cranky all day...
When I got there my dad took the car seat out of the car and brought him inside took him out of the car seat and held him ( no biggie ) it was almost time for DS to eat so he started getting fussy.
I got up to start getting his milk ready before DS got really upset.
My dad looks at me while I'm obviously fixing ds's food
     - he's hungry
    me: I'm working on it.
DS starts crying - my dad has the pacifier... DS continues to cry
    my dad says
    - let him cry, it's good for his lungs
    ( I make a face )
    - you don't want him to cry?
Me: no I don't, I don't like for him to cry he'll turn purple.
    - what do you want me to do
me: give him his pacifier until the milk is ready
    - he spit it out earlier, he doesn't want it.
Me: (walks over sticks pacifier in)
    (DS stops crying immediately)
i finish warning the milk and walk back to my dad and I stood in front of his chair - I was assuming my dad wanted to feed him , plus my dad was just looking at DS)
dad looks at me - well take him then

i get DS and sit on the far end of the couch so I could prop my right arm up while I fed him.
( dad scoffs like I was purposely sitting far away from him )

then proceeds to start drilling me about when I'm going back to work... (Currently unemployed)

ds starts being super cute and I started smiling at him and I looked to my dad who was looking at me
    - (with attitude) what?
    Me: points to DS
    -what about him?
    Me: he's cute
    -rolls eyes

I almost left, but my mom worked really hard cooking dinner so I stayed.

My dad, however, ignored me the rest of the night.
I left as quickly as I could.

Guess who isn't going back to her parents house for awhile .. This kid and DS - at least not when my dad is there.

I'll raise my kid how I please. If I don't want him to cry, respect my wishes.
    Im still upset about this

    sorry for the novel
  • I'm a tw. I raised my hand quickly to reach for something and accidentally smacked the toddler in the mouth. When I reached out to comfort him, he flinched away from me. Worst feeling ever.

  • @carlyhammond an older gentleman at church told me crying is good for their lungs. Shut the hell up. They aren't exercising their lungs. Crying sucks. I'm not just going to let my 2 week old baby cry. She is telling me something is wrong.
  • @carlyhammond My mom was starting to give me her 2 cents on crying with DS last week.  "You know, Megan when he cries, as soon as you pick him up he stops. He knows you're going to just pick him up.  Maybe you should let him cry it out a little bit."  I can't tell you how many times I have heard; "Things are so different now, when I had you and your brother...*fill in the blank*" The fill in the blank is usually the complete opposite of what people and I apparently do now and would probably put me in jail these days if I were to do it.
  • My left boob is a TW. I had a reduction surgery (both sides) about 10 years ago and my left has been having issues with not providing DS with enough milk (actually both but left is worse). However the last couple days it's been leaking milk in between feeds, despite still not giving baby enough and not producing much in pump sessions. Damn boob, wasting precious breast milk!
  • I don't want to whine... OK I do. SO. SO is a complete TW. He's been pretty decent about taking a 4 hour night shift with the baby, then I take the next shift so he can some sleep before getting up with DS and getting ready for work (desk job). But he won't keep his eyes open! He's even asked SD (8 years old) to help watch the two little ones because he was "too tired" this weekend. He gets mad when I tell him he can't just sleep while the Littles are awake. I literally can't even shower because he not only falls asleep, but won't wake up to the crying from either little one.

He acts like he is the only one who should or could possibly be tired from this situation...

My right boob produces so much more milk then my left. I read somewhere that that is not unheard of! Mine also leak between feedings/pumping. Thank goodness for breast pads

@Ebiejay have you heard of the milkies milk savers? I've never used them myself but I've heard a lot of good reviews about them. Basically just stick it in your bra to catch those precious drops! Might be worth a try

I was going to suggest this too. Super useful when feeding since my other boobs always leaks

    These work amazingly well.
  • Ooh thanks for the tip guys! I'll check them out. I have to supplement right now so my milk feels like gold dust, I can't bear to see it go to waste!
  • Colds are TW! My 2yr old is sick and sneezed right into my 1 mo old's face.  -_-  This will not be fun.
