Hi guys Was wondering if anyone has tried this method of trying to conceive? Or know anyone who has? I'm thinking of giving it ago this cycle. This will be my 2nd cycle of TTCAL
I never called it that, but it is similar to what I do. I aim for every other day leading up to positive OPK and then 3 days in a row until ovulation is confirmed. I was always confused by SMEPs instructions to skip a day and then BD once more after the 3 consecutive days... because if you've already ovulated it's just for fun anyways, so why include that step?
Any plan that makes you feel like you're giving your all is OK in my book!
I think that if you and your partner are comfortable with the method, then go for it. At this stage in our TTC journey we aren't ready to schedule BD to that level - I pay attention to CM and what day in my cycle we are at and prioritize BD on days with EWCM but for us I think SMEP would turn TTC too clinical/chore-like - we BD several times a week regardless. I may be singing a different tune in a few months... But like I said, do what works for you - it certainly doesn't sound like it would hurt your chances.

Yeah, I see what you mean about clinical. I just have this irrational thought that time is running out... I kinda hate that the age gap between my son and any future children is so going to be so big; there's 9 years between me and my older brother I really didn't want that for my son and it seems it's heading that way anyway.
@glamakitti - I get the age gap thing - my mom remarried at 38, she had 3 kids from her first marriage and he died when she was 25. My siblings are 15, 17 and 19 years older than me - and I'm still the baby in my brother's minds (the 15 and 17 year older siblings) but it is better since one of them started having kids again (remarriage) and since I got married nearly 10 years ago. My eldest niece is 8 years younger and things were "interesting" when we were young because we were both kind-of only children but we're really close now - like sisters. An age gap isn't the worst thing ever if it is unavoidable

Like @BornReady DH and I continue follow a plan that is quite similar to SMEP. Yes it can feel a bit clinical but it also eases my mind that we have covered our bases each month. I have had both BFN and BFP using this plan....so who knows! Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I like to think it helped us get our BFP in November.

I don't have any advice from experience, but if that sounds good to you and DH then go for it! Just make sure to have good time! And definitely don't stress out if you miss a night, because that seems to cover all your bases really well!
I read about SMEP- it was a free download on my Kindle. DH and I are in our 3rd cycle ttcal. If we don't get it this time, we're trying SMEP. I also read the book Making Babies. It actually made me feel like we can be proactive. I'll probably incorporate some of the things from both.
In my experience, it's the 3 days once you get positive opk that really matter ;-)
Tried to respond to comment days ago, sorry about that The Bump forum disappeared for a while. Anyhoo! I never got a +opk with my internet cheapies; we championed on though lol. I guess I am in the two now... don't think I can keep up with the BD every other day until cd35 though!
