  I have a perigestational hemorrhage as well. I had on and off brown spotting for two weeks around 5-7 weeks gestation that was worrisome but at least found the cause. It is not "normal"; however, perigestational hemorrhages (often also called a subchorionic hemorrhage -- SCH) is typically responsible for ~20% of women who have bleeding in the first trimester. My OB was not that concerned but they want to watch it and make sure it gets smaller over time. They can have devastating effects if they are too big or get under the placenta. If it does not go away closer to delivery, then it can cause preterm labor due to irritating the uterus. My OB recommended laying on left side when you sleep, no heavy lifting and pelvic rest until there is a few weeks of no bleeding and as long as it is getting smaller. There is not much else you can do and hopefully just watch it over time to make sure it is going away. I am no longer worrying about mine because it got smaller within 1 week on the 2nd U/S but it is definitely worrisome when you first hear about it. And avoiding "googling" is best as there are a lot of horror stories you can find likely due to publication bias.
